Strange experience

Has anybody else struggled with their chosen name for their baby?
I understand that there are other threads similar to this so I do apologise and please bear with me.
My little boy doesn’t seem to suit any name at all. I say it and it sounds strange, and doesn’t seem to fit. It’s jarring when others say it. I don’t think it’s the name itself, it’s a classic name. Is it because he’s new here, and it’s weird to give such a wonderful little thing a grown up, human, earthly name. I don’t feel depressed as such and have an amazing bond with him. I’m just wondering if this is a common experience whereby it takes time or what? I hope he’ll just grow into it and time will help. But wondered if anyone else has had this experience of it feeling quite strange?

It took me a few months to settle into calling both my children their names. I often said ‘the baby’ - I think it felt jarring as I felt sharing it was quite revealing. I was telling people THIS was the best name in my opinion. I had a similar feeling using ‘my husband’ when I first got married. Got over all of that in the end and now feel fine using both kids names and saying my husband!

I felt exactly the same, OP. Congratulations on your little miracle 💐

How old is DS? It can take a while for it to feel natural (not sure that's the correct word?!). I think it's normal.

I think you’re exactly right about it feeling ‘revealing’ for me that’s a huge part of it! Thanks so much, pleased it passed

I know exactly what you mean OP and I think this is why so many kids end up with family nicknames that stick!

Yes, it did pass after a while! Now it's like they were always meant to have their names, if you know what I mean. But at first I felt like the names didn't even begin to encompass what those "beings" were! I don't know how to explain it, but what you said in your OP resonated a lot.
