Neither. Ava is far too popular and both names are similar to it. The trend is probably nearing its end and the names will be dated in due course.
Also you appear to have started several threads, which suggests you are not sure.

This one is just curiosity :) No rules against that

Ada - love it. Like Ada Lovelace.

GreyhoundGal1 · 28/02/2025 08:11

Both lovely, I personally prefer Ada but you can't go wrong with either.

Umbrellah · 28/02/2025 08:58

OP you’re making tonnes of posts about names. Can’t you just keep it in one thread?!

Emanwenym · 28/02/2025 09:15

No, but you are asking about two very ordinary names that will probably end up being Ada Y or Eva Y.
If you are asking about 'Evie, Eva, Ava' type names, then Ivy is an obvious suggestion, and Ivy Yates doesn't flow.

You have a mix of heritages, so have expressed elsewhere that you're considering other names.

If you open several threads, it looks a bit like you are a bit confused and obsessing.

Agreed. It’s drip feeding too as not everyone has read the other posts/threads about names!

InMyMNEra · 28/02/2025 09:18

I think they’re both beautiful, but I have a slight preference for Eva

pilates · 28/02/2025 09:20

Ada

Rabssccuttlefissh · 28/02/2025 09:21

Eva ❤️

Ada sounds common to me.

Emanwenym · 28/02/2025 09:22

The names are really boring. Priya is nicer
and it's a bit annoying repeating the same opinion on several threads in reply to various polls (when you should be concentrating on your work deadline Smile)

Priya Yates doesn't flow all that well though.

Don’t respond then?? Not hard people

Okay everyone - shock horror! The whole thing is made up I’m actually 14 and don’t even have a bf LOL not sure why you’re all so obsessed with how this page runs it’s a forum and I can ask what I want when I want

Ada is a beautiful name 💖

Emanwenym · 28/02/2025 10:13

You've started about 6 threads and several posters are saying the same things. Have you considered that it might be you?

RachelLikesTea · 28/02/2025 10:13

I prefer Eva. Lovely name.

SlaveToAGoldenRetriever · 28/02/2025 12:58

I have a 20yo Eva - she loves it and contrary to MN’s opinion it isn’t as popular as you think. It’s timeless (much more so than the Evies, Avas etc) and has been around for centuries. She very rarely meets another Eva, there’s never been 2 of them in her school year or anything like that.

okydokethen · 28/02/2025 13:12

Ada is my favourite name

Emanwenym · 28/02/2025 14:01

@SlaveToAGoldenRetriever , it won't be all that popular in your DD's age group - it's the collective 'Eva, Ava, Evie, Eve, Evelyn...' over decades. I wouldn't say it was a classic in the UK but it is in some other countries. Nothing wrong with it or Ada, but I don't like Ava, and they' both a bit like it.

MeganM3 · 28/02/2025 14:10

Both really lovely. I especially like Ada but would be v happy if called either of those.

Ada sounds like someone’s just said something stupid and you’re saying “duhhh!” Sarcastically

user1492757084 · 01/03/2025 03:00

I prefer more solid sounding names with Yates ..
Adele Yates
Jane Yates
Genevieve Yates
Bridget Yates

Nellsbell · 03/03/2025 21:45

I like Ada more traditional than Eva. Ada was on my list.
