Jasper too similar?

Looking for a name for a brother to Percy. We love Jasper but I'm not sure if it's a bit too similar, with them both having 'per'? We also like Arthur and Henry but not as much. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I don’t see the similarity as an issue - ‘per’ in Percy and ‘per’ in jasper are pronounced a bit differently and as they’re not in the same place in the name…

… I would just go for it.

I thought you were going to say Jasper and Caspar.

Jasper and Percy are lovely names.

snoopyduh · 23/02/2025 20:46

They are not too similar. Lovely names both.

I think as long as they don't 'rhyme' it is fine. Jasper and Percy go well.

Your overthinking. They go well together

Same here.

Great names! I don't think they are too similar.

Too similar would be Percy and his brother Perry, or Jasper and his brother Casper.

Moreteaandchocolate · 23/02/2025 23:03

Not too similar at all - they go well

Neurotoxic · 23/02/2025 23:04

I would never have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/02/2025 00:02

It’s fine - it’s a very subtle link and Jasper works well with his brother in style imo.

Mind you it would also be a subtle link to go for Arthur, as then you’d almost have two Knights of the Round Table (Arthur and Percival).

Henry seems very classic compared to your other choices - while it’s risen and fallen slightly in fashion I’d still compare it more to names like Edward, William, Thomas, George, James etc

Emanwenym · 24/02/2025 07:19

Like a pp, I wouldn't have noticed.
