Hi y’all

we LOVE the name Myla but is this too similar to Mae (cousin) ??

Other than both starting with M they are completely different.
Nice name.

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/02/2025 21:49

No not too similar at all 😊

StupidBitchy · 14/02/2025 21:56

Nope

I can’t see how they are the same at all? Different type of name (Myla is variant of Mila I think?) and completely different sounds in English apart from the starting letter - they’d be fine for sisters imo, so cousins is really no issue.

Unless you Welsh Speaking? In Welsh Mai is pronounced “My” - so I suppose someone in theory could pronounce Mae the same but I haven’t met one with that spelling here.

It would be strange for a Welsh-speaker to name a child Mae, and it's not usually pronounced My.

I don't think the names are too similar for cousins.

I write what I always write on these types of threads. I have cousins in my family, they are born the same year, and they are called Chris and Christopher. No problem!
