Which would you pick? I love the nn Lenny and personally would not shorten Franklin to Frank. I know I cannot decide nn’s at school

Franklin. I like Lenny but not Lennon - it's a bit too Beatles or Lenin. (Leonard is fine though.)

Mademetoxic · 14/02/2025 09:32

Oh dear. Awful names sorry. Franklin is the protagonist in GTA 5.

TheMasterplan23 · 14/02/2025 09:38

I have a Lennon!
He’s only ever been called Lennon though…not Lenny or Len.
He’s 20 now and was named after John Lennon although I think there’s enough Lennon’s around now that people wouldn’t instantly presume you’re a Beatles fan!

Yellowrosessmellpetaly · 14/02/2025 09:39

I like Franklin, he's the clever kid from Snoopy.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/02/2025 09:46

Lennon.

MyFlightWasAwfulThanksForAsking · 14/02/2025 09:47

They're both terrible, sorry.

VoodooPigeon · 14/02/2025 09:52

I know a Franklin who's nickname is Franklinstein.

My DS had a friend from nursery called Lemon, who turned out to be a Lennon (how we laughed at DS's mis-hearing).

bluebunnys · 14/02/2025 09:55

Franklin is much nicer!

MegTheForgetfulCat · 14/02/2025 09:56

Franklin is nice. Lenny is OK, but as a NN for Leonard, not Lennon. I think Lennon is the name of one of the Gallagher brothers' children? It's really cringey imo.

EcruCardigan · 14/02/2025 10:12

Not Franklin if you don't like Frank. I think Frank is OK, although I'm not that keen but I don't like Franklin at all.

Lennon is too John & Yoko, but Leonard is really nice.

MistyF · 14/02/2025 10:35

I dislike both, but Franklin is tad better. I just think Lennon sounds bad.

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/02/2025 10:48

I like Lenny and Frank / Frankie nn’s more than either full name. Personally I think I’d go for Frank as the name on the bc, but you’ve said that you’re not so keen on that, so in your case I’d choose Lennon nn Lenny.

DramaAlpaca · 14/02/2025 10:50

I quite like Lennon/Lenny.

I really dislike Franklin, sorry. Francis is nice but I would only use it as a middle name as I don't like Frank.

shoopshoopdedoo · 14/02/2025 16:47

I don’t like either, personally.

Though I do really like both Frank and Len/Lenny. I’d have them as nicknames for Francis and Leonard, though, which seem quite different!

KayEmAy · 14/02/2025 17:41

I like Lennon a lot more than Franklin

GutsyGertrude · 14/02/2025 17:43

I prefer Franklin (although I'm not overly fond of either one if I'm honest)

Francis maybe?

WWY · 14/02/2025 17:44

I love Franklin! He's a tall, dark and gorgeous character from a film I love. Very strong and masculine. However, I wouldn't use it in this country as it's not popular and does sound like an OAP.

HotCrossBunplease · 14/02/2025 17:45

Franklin feels very American to me. Not saying that is a bad thing though.

Lennon feels a bit tribute act because it’s not really a first name.

GutsyGertrude · 14/02/2025 17:58

If you love Lenny, you could call him Leonard.

I used to know a wee Leonard who must be about 9 now.

Not 100% to my taste but a nice enough name imo and you won't have many in the same class

salamithumbs · 14/02/2025 20:12

I prefer Lennon, Franklin makes me think of the cartoon turtle!

Both names are awful in different ways.

If you love nn Lenny, then - Leonard.

And Francis as the alternative, with Frank as the nn.

Franklin

DS has a friend called Franklin and he’s known as Franklin, no one shortens it to Frank, because he doesn’t want them to!

Lennon sounds 1990’s to me, I think one of the Gallagher brothers has a son called Lennon.

abracadabra1980 · 19/02/2025 04:16

Franklin is awful and Lennon makes you look like you're copying Liam Gallagher
