Unisex Name for Girl

I’ve a great disdain for flowery feminine names or anything twee, and am keen for daughter to have a strong name that the sex would be ambiguous when read. I’ve always been drawn to these names on powerful, gorgeous women and definitely want to go unisex.

This is what we have so far, keen to hear favourites:

Blake
Blair
Drew
Morgan
Robin

Tommy short for Thomasina saw it on Miss Marple just yesterday loved it. And on registers at school it would be an obviously female name which trust me is important.

ItsFineReally · 25/01/2025 19:13

I like Sidney

Chuchoter · 25/01/2025 19:24

Michael.

Michael Learned was a woman.

nolaandme · 25/01/2025 19:51

Love all of those for both, I'd spell Robin with a y for a girl though.

I like unisex names too, Sam, Andi, Charlie. Why not pick a name that can be shortened so she can choose when she gets older? So Charlotte for Charlie, Samantha for Sam etc.

Trampoline · 25/01/2025 22:21

I know both boys and girls with these names:

Ash
Marley
Logan
Karsten
Kerry

And more obvious shortenings of male/female names:
Sam
Billie
George/ie
Charley
Freddie
Henri
Pat
Chris
Danni
Tom
Bertie
Eddie
Laurie

The Blake I know is a boy! As was Blake Carrington (Dynasty).. Definitely unisex.

Snippit · 25/01/2025 22:25

30 years ago I worked with a lovely woman called Terri, I thought the name was so unusual for a woman at the time.

Richtea67 · 25/01/2025 22:26

I like Jesse, Bobbi, Reese and Andi.

anon2022anon · 25/01/2025 22:26

Some I can't see mentioned are Noa/ Noah, Stevie, Asher, Dylan.
Remi was my top girls name that didn't get chosen, and I love Leni too. One of my daughters has a typical 'boys' name (which she hates at 21, though there have been more surfacing in her era), and the other has an uncommon, unfrilly girls name and a unisex middle name.

Wigglypasta · 25/01/2025 22:26

Riley

anon2022anon · 25/01/2025 22:27
