Help choose middle names for twins

I had twin girls on Christmas Eve. We are registering them tomorrow but are not set on middle names. What do you think? We have a really common last name.

Phoebe Alys
Esther Maeve

Or

Phoebe Laura
Esther Grace

Any other suggestions?

The second ones... Phoebe will be having to spell Alys all the time!

dottyaboutstripes · 21/01/2025 16:02

The first combination is lovely! Congratulations 😊

KnickerFolder · 21/01/2025 16:06

They are all lovely but don’t think the 2 combinations with Phoebe flow as well. How about Esther Maeve and Phoebe Grace?

Mizztikle · 21/01/2025 16:10

Phoebe Alys and Esther Grace.

Onelifeonly22 · 21/01/2025 16:13

I was also going to suggest Esther Maeve and Pheobe Grace! I like the 2 syllable name followed by one syllable name. Congratulations!

All gorgeous though.

Phoebe Alys and Esther Grace
Unless you're Welsh though spell it Alice or she's just going to end up correcting it all her life

Ooh yes agree!

KayEmAy · 21/01/2025 19:11

They are both lovely so you can't choose wrong but I'd go with the first combos!

If I could cheat though -
Phoebe Alys
Maeve Lauren

We are Welsh and Alys is the 'common' spelling where we live:)

Phoebe Alys and Esther Laura/Lowri

Phoebe Alys and Esther Maeve are gorgeous! If you’re in Wales are there any other Welsh names you like for a middle name for Esther? E.g.

Esther Megan
Esther Mali
Esther Lowri
Esther Seren
Esther Lili
Esther Mai?

Or are you using Maeve because you also have Irish links? Lovely name ideas, either way ☺️

Scutterbug · 21/01/2025 23:34

I would choose Esther Maeve and Phoebe Alice (not keen on Alys).

Phoebe Alys and Esther Grace.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 22/01/2025 03:30

Phoebe Alys (don’t think phoebe Laura sounds as good) and Esther Grace although Maeve works equally well but I love Grace.

TheOriginalEmu · 22/01/2025 17:18

Alys and Maeve are lovely.

sel2223 · 23/01/2025 06:21

Phoebe Alice and Esther Grace

Beautiful and timeless

You don't need any trendy, try hard spellings and I'm never sure how I'm supposed to pronounce Maeve (May-ve? Maw-ve?).

ETA- I've seen in other comments about Alys being the Welsh spelling so apologies if i offended anyone, it wasn't intentional. If you're in Wales then fair enough, that makes sense. If not though, then it's still a no from me. It looks like Ally's and many outside of Wales will think it's just a made up spelling
