Expecting baby #4 - our first girl!

DH is French and I am English so we prefer names that work in both languages. Ideally we prefer names that are also said the same.

For girls our list is
Elena
Anna
Alice
Clara

But we aren't quite sure exactly which works best?

Any ideas or thoughts?

I don’t think it matters which works best. She’s an individual with her name for life, not to sound nice said with a bunch of other names. Just choose the one you think is loveliest- I like all your choices except Alice.

Arthur and Clara are a bit rhymey. I would choose Anna or Alice from your list.

Are you happy with your list or looking for other options?
Zoe, Evelyn, Lea, Adele, Esme

All lovely names.

I'd avoid Alice all the same as the pronunciation is different.

The French R rules out Clara.

Elena is a little different in French, but not confusing or difficult.

For ease of pronunciation as well as being a lovely name, I think I'd go with Anna.

I love your children’s names! And all of your girls name ideas are lovely too! My personal favourites are Alice and Clara (two of my favourite girls names ever). Clara gives a different initial, if that matters to you? But all the name ideas you have are great.

Eenameenadeeka · 12/01/2025 06:28

Clara is so pretty. They're all lovely names

user1492757084 · 12/01/2025 07:06

All four are sweet names.
My personal fave is Elena.

Do you like Alizee?

Firsttimebabymummy · 12/01/2025 09:42

Anna.

shoopshoopdedoo · 12/01/2025 09:48

Lovely choices! Clara is my least favourite, but I’d struggle to choose from the other three options!

Nextyearhopes · 12/01/2025 09:49

Love all 4 of yours! Classic names that can’t be abbreviated!

1questionfromme · 12/01/2025 09:51

I like Anna. But when I read your boys list the first name that came to mind was Florence. Although I'm not sure if / how that works in French.

OnceMoreWithAttitude · 12/01/2025 09:57

Clara
Celeste
Nancy
Tala

sel2223 · 12/01/2025 10:28

What about Elara? I know a mixed French and English couple who named their daughter this

MyDogNeedsGlasses · 12/01/2025 10:53

I love Anna from your list but they're all pretty.

I would add Fleur to the list if it were me!

Mandarinaduck · 12/01/2025 11:00

They are nice names; I like Alice the best (and I think it's most similar in style to the other names), but they all work.

What about Emma, Celine, Daphne, Louise, Alexandra?

Fontainebleau007 · 12/01/2025 11:08

Elena or Clara

CoffeeBeansGalore · 12/01/2025 11:11

Out of your list I think Anna.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/01/2025 11:11

I like Alice but those are all good names, you couldn't go wrong with any of them.

Fridgedooropen · 12/01/2025 11:13

Clara. Different initial. Easier standard spelling compared to Elena.

Mumofgirls2017 · 12/01/2025 13:07

All nice but Clara is my pick. Other ideas….

Eva
Sophie
Emilia
Mia
Eloise
Matilda
Nora

BootballJoy · 12/01/2025 15:27

Anna
