Middle name for Ella

8weekscrossed · 11/01/2025 08:41

I’ve previously posted about choosing a name for our first little girl, due next month. We like Ella as her first name. A lot of people said it is overused, but we don’t know any children called Ella.

both our DS’s have meaningful middle names, but all possible names from grandparents etc doesn’t work. My middle name is Jane.

so Ella Jane; or we like
Ella Scarlett

our surname is two syllables. Any other thoughts on nice middle names?

Middle names never get used, so it's d just choose a name that has meaning to you.

I'm surprised that you've not met any young Ellas. We know soooo many under 20 year olds.

Moreteaandchocolate · 11/01/2025 08:48

Ella Jane is so beautiful - love it!

Waterboatlass · 11/01/2025 08:52

It would be nice to give her the same as yours, Ella Jane

SallyWD · 11/01/2025 08:54

I think Ella Jane is lovely

TheStigarette · 11/01/2025 09:04

Ella is a classic beautiful name. I like either of those . I know an Ella Delphine which is rather lovely.

8weekscrossed · 11/01/2025 09:06

Thank you everyone. @Bienemaias i know, so many people in the last post said Ella was really overused, but we don’t know any, none in DS’s year or DS’s nursery.

for some reason my phone autocorrected, my middle name has a ‘Y’ in it, so Jayne, but either way would be nice. I do like Ella Scarlett too, but has no meaning to us x

So I guess my next question to @Moreteaandchocolate @Waterboatlass @SallyWD @TheStigarette is do I go for ‘Jayne’ like mine or ‘Jane’?

I personally prefer Jane but if Jayne has more meaning, I'd go for that. Middle names rarely get used or spoken about. I do think it's nice to have something meaningful. My DD has my mum's name as a middle name. It's means a lot to me.

I like both equally, so I’d go for Jayne like yours 😊

8weekscrossed · 11/01/2025 09:33

@SallyWD so do I, I think it is more elegant. Thank you!

I have an Ella who is 5 and only know 1 other Ella and she is 11 year older than mine!
I love her name! I could never decide on a middle name for her but Ella Jane does sound lovely!

EcruCardigan · 11/01/2025 09:55

I know loads of Ellas, Bellas and Ellies. Many of them have a longer birth certificate names and the names weren't shortened until a year or two into school.
I'd go for a more substantial middle name and Ella Scarlett is pretty.

Seventimesaday · 11/01/2025 09:55

My first thought was Ella Joy. But I really like Ella Jayne too.

Firsttimebabymummy · 11/01/2025 10:41

Ella Jayne is lovely, I'd go for that.

Jeeeeez · 11/01/2025 12:34

It’ll be one of those names that when she grows up she’ll meet loads of Ella’s. I’ve got a classic 80s name, there was only two of us in school but my god half the people I work with have the same name!

Jane is nice and works well. Anything but Rose/Grace/May.

Theoldwoman · 11/01/2025 12:43

I recently lost my 21 year old called Ella Charlotte. She loved her name.

Her best friend is Ella Joy.

Loukate29 · 11/01/2025 23:33

Ella Sophia x

purpleblue2 · 11/01/2025 23:39

I have a niece called Ella and I know an Ella that works as a mua but that’s it! It’s not over used like Olivia is etc.

my nieces name is Ella-rose Renee then her surname.

I love Ella Jayne.

my daughters middle name is after my Nan that passed away when I was like 8 weeks pregnant. So my daughter’s initials are SCC. I don’t particularly like it anymore and she’s only 3 but it honours my nan and also made my grandad very happy so you do you you make sure your content .

MummySam2017 · 11/01/2025 23:41

Ella Louise x

waltzingparrot · 11/01/2025 23:48

BollickyBill · 12/01/2025 00:42

BaronessBomburst · 12/01/2025 00:52
