Not what you asked but:
Arlo - not keen, makes me think of Harlow, Essex. The name is so nothingy.
Noah - know far too many of them, and I just hear No or No-AAAAAH!
Finn - like and it has a cool vibe, but Finley is very popular. It's a bit of a bad boy name.
Oscar - OK, but think of it as a dog or cat's name.

In order, Finn, Oscar, Noah, Arlo, but I'd suggest you pick Oscar, because Finley seems so drippy.

Arlo - awful
Noah- not keen
Finn OK but not keen
Oscar not keen but better than Noah and Arlo

Moreteaandchocolate · 10/01/2025 12:12

I voted for Finn, but like Oscar and Noah too (they are just very popular around us).

Very similar thoughts here but I'd choose Oscar over Finn.

Noah - my favourite, though it’s very popular
Oscar - nice, but I think of it as a pet name
Finn - OK, though not really to my taste
Arlo - really don’t like

Sunnyflow · 10/01/2025 16:12

They are all extremely overused und unmemorable. They will date badly.

If I had to choose, then Arlo

Orphlids · 10/01/2025 16:25

Finn is my favourite from your list, as it has a bit more character than the others.

Agree with PP that Arlo is so nothingy. It sounds like someone exhaling. I met a baby Arlo a few years ago and his father got his guitar out and started singing to us. That man really sums up what I imagine nearly all parents of Arlos are like.

Oscar and Noah are both inoffensive enough, but there are so many of them around, the names have become incredibly boring.

SkaneTos · 10/01/2025 22:20

They are all good names!

I voted for Noah.

Bienemaias · 11/01/2025 08:05

I can't seem to vote anywhere?

I like Arlo best but find them all too popular personally

sesquipedalian · 11/01/2025 08:08

OP, would you actually name your baby according to a poll of strangers on Mumsnet? Surely the important question is: which of those names do you and the father prefer? Whatever you call your baby, he will become that name, so go with your own preferences, and blow what anyone else thinks.

TinyMouseTheatre · 11/01/2025 08:09

Out of those names I'd choose Noah. If popularity of a bake is an issue maybe ask your MW how many of a name she's met recently? She might say something like she's met 10 Arlos already this year.

RatRatPig · 11/01/2025 09:22

Arlo - a bit faddy

Noah - very popular but a classic and has a nice smooth sound. This would be my pick.

Finn - nice name but I know LOADs of these. Don't see it as a "bad boy" name personally, but with all the Finns, Finlays, Fintans etc there are gazillions of them

Oscar - seems a bit dated, also sounds a bit "stodgy" to my ears

JennyPenny222 · 11/01/2025 09:36

In order
Noah
Oscar
Finn
Arlo- I hear 'Harlow' pronounced badly. .

BoleynMemories13 · 12/01/2025 15:21

I love the name Finn, very handsome. I don't see it as either a 'wet' name or a naughty boy's name at all!

Noah is lovely too (popularity wouldn't bother me at all as the top names get far fewer registrations each year these days than they use to).

Oscar isn't a personal favourite of mine, but it's an ok name.

The only one I dislike is Arlo. It's a really modern fad name and just sounds like someone mispronouncing Harlow.

Finn is definitely my favourite though :-)
