Found out we're having a boy in May and we're really struggling for names!

Shortlist so far is:

Leo
George
Dominic
Brody

All very different which doesn't help at all! Anyone got any other suggestions. We liked Theo at one point but there are so many in our area.

Our only rule is no names ending in 'N' as they clash with our surname.

Will be a little brother to Tahlia 💙❤️

I know far far many more Georges than Theo’s. There are 3 in my kid’s school but 6 Georges, plus I know at least another 3 through friends.

Nextyearhopes · 06/01/2025 13:43

I love George. Classic name that will never age.
Brody sounds girly and Leo reminds me of a dog. Dominic - just not keen

Ticketytutu · 06/01/2025 13:44

Dominic would be my choice,

Love Leo and Dominic.

Other suggestions:
Nathaniel
Marcus
Zachary
Antony
Ellis
Jared
Harris

Beody’s not for me but I love the other three. I’d struggle to choose between George and Leo, though Dominic is lovely too and less popular.

Sk1sk0 · 06/01/2025 16:10

I like Dominic best and think it goes well with your dd’s name

Moreteaandchocolate · 06/01/2025 16:26

George is my favourite - I don’t actually know many despite it being high in the charts.

Leo is lovely but has flown up the charts and I know quite a few newborns who’ve been given the name recently so it might become the new Theo.

Dominic is great and Dom is good for short.

I also like Brody and think it goes well with Thalia.

Dominic is nice but the one adult I know it’s shortened to Dom.

You have plenty of time to decide.

I don't like Brody but I'm not used to it. Seems like a surname.

The Dominics I know are all called Dom, which I don't like. Similar names might be Jeremy, Timothy, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Barnaby.

George and Leo are both very popular. I don't like Theo.

Herewegoagain8 · 06/01/2025 20:13

Think I recognise your name from the May 2025 board!
Like them all except Dominic, reminds me of a middle aged man but that’s probably because I know one. Choosing a name is so hard and nobody likes the same, go with whichever you love.

Emanwenym · 06/01/2025 20:21

@Herewegoagain8 , can I have next Saturday's lottery numbers please? Smile

🤣 I meant the May 2025 babies thread.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/01/2025 21:20

Tahlia and Dominic perfect sibset.
If you don’t want any thing popular I’d say lose George and Leo, they’re everywhere. They’re both good strong classic names though if you can over look popularity

Other ideas.
Tahlia and
Jasper
Otis
Xavier
Lorenzo (I don’t know if the n would still clash though)
Marcus
Rufus
Casper
Isaac
Ezra

Dominic will very likely get shortened, so you’d need to like Dom as much (which personally I don’t). You could push for Nick/Nico but you’d probably have to introduce him as that from day one.

George is one of the very few timeless classics that for some reason I’m just not keen on the sound of, but that is a personal thing. It does seem a very different style to Tahlia though.

For me it would be between Leo and Brody - Leo might make his life easier being popular and no spelling issues. But I prefer the sound of Brody/Brodie and you’ll be used to spelling issues with Tahlia anyway, so Brody would probably be my choice. Do you have any Scots links? That would sway me even further to Brody I think.
