Surname change?

I have kept ny surname after marrying but gave my son my DH surname and my surname as a middle name.
Have been tracing my family tree and there is a continous line with my surname back to 1600 which will stop at my generation. I have no brothers or male cousins.

I now feel that I should at least double-barrel my son's name. Can't really explain why - not a particularly rare surname or anything special.

Has anyone changed theie child's surname without getting divorced/re-married?

I kept my surname, as I have an unusual and uncommon one. We decided to give our children my surname as a third first name.

In my experience as a teacher, children often changed their surnames. I don't know the exact procedure to go through (possibly deed poll via a solicitor?) but it must be fairly straightforward.
