Tessa- boring
Serena- boring
Elena- boring
Keira- okay

TinyMouseTheatre · 01/01/2025 18:35

I think they're all lovely but out of the list I'd probably go for Keira the least as it was popular about 20 years ago.

If you like Serena how about Selena or Celeste?

Askingforadvice78 · 01/01/2025 18:36

These names aren't necessarily my choice, however, I disagree that they are boring. I've been a teacher for 25 years and I have never taught many on your list, with the exception of Keira/Kiera which is less popular now than it was ten years ago.

I love Tess as opposed to Tessa.

I like them all
Tessa is my favourite, Serena least favourite (just think it's quite grown up for a baby!)

Galectable · 01/01/2025 18:43

I think that's a great line up! I like Tessa, and Serena especially. I'm a fan of familiar but less common names, so the child does not have a lifetime of spelling out their name.

theduchessofspork · 01/01/2025 18:43

Serena - lovely, top choice
Tessa - I like this too

Elena - nice but she’ll be one of many many Ellies and it will get spelt Eleanor by mistake which will be annoying for her

Keira - it’s a bit 90s. Also it’s spelt Ciara or Kiera, Keira is a misspelling (K Knightly made it popular - her dad spelt it wrong when he registered her)

Other ideas

Cassia
Saskia
Estella
Susannah
Keziah
Karina / Carina
Eloise
Zara
Esther (Tess/a is sometimes a shortform for this)
Clara
Philippa (Pippa)
Verity
Sacha (either as it is or short for Alexandra)

I agree totally. They are mostly unusual names with the exception of Keira/Kiera.

I've only ever met one Serena and that was years ago, never met an Elena and I've met a Tess, a Tessa and I know a Tessima who is lovely.

Comedycook · 01/01/2025 18:44

Serena is my favourite from your list... gorgeous name.

Elena is also lovely.

Kiera is just a bit nothing to me.

Tessa is really not a name I like...feels very frumpy

hyperkid · 01/01/2025 18:44

They are lovely, and all would be good choices. For twists on your names:

Eleanor, which is often pronounced as 'Eh-luh-nah'.

If you think Tessa is too simple, perhaps Theresa, with Tess(a) shortened.

You could use Kyra (which is pronounced as 'Kee-ra') instead of Keira (Kjei-ra). This is a continental version of the name.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 01/01/2025 18:45

Elena is my favourite.

Blakehouse · 01/01/2025 18:46

Tessa
Cara
Helen
?

Northernsoul90 · 01/01/2025 18:46

I love Tessa and also like it shortened to Tess. Not overly keen on Serena or Elena just not my personal style. Dislike the name Keira.

Globusmedia · 01/01/2025 19:00

Brutal first post 🤣

Thanks all for the feedback - seems like Keira is out (I wasn't aware of the misspelling so I'll probably eliminate it just based on that, although I do also like Kyra)

I hadn't really clocked Ellie as a nn for Elena, and I don't really like it.

Clara and Aurora are also lovely suggestions. I also like Cassandra but I feel like it's quite a 'big' name.

All of them are OK, tho I think Keira is a bit dated maybe, suspect they are mostly around 40 now?
I like Serena best

I don’t love Keira, the rest are all very nice.

RaspberryBeretxx · 01/01/2025 19:22

I love all of them. Favourite is Serena - so beautiful. Elena could have issues with spelling and could be shortened to Ellie.

Cassie as nn is cute though!

TheFlyingHorse · 01/01/2025 19:28

I like them all apart from Keira.

I know an Elena and there's a lot of confusion about how to pronounce it.

Moreteaandchocolate · 01/01/2025 19:32

I like Tessa best - lovely, simple and pretty for all ages - not dated or overused.

Keira is also lovely but I see from your update you’ve ruled it out now.

Elena is nice and could be Nell if you don’t like Ellie.

Serena - I avoid 3 syllable names with no obvious nn - the Serena I know is known as “Sreen”

I know a dog called Tessa so that's a no.

Serena, a bit too medical sounding. Reminds me of a coil!

Elena, OK but likely to be pronounced wrong, what about Elana (elle-anna) or Eleanor?

Keira - bit meh

Askingforadvice78 · 01/01/2025 19:44

How about Sarah or Sara? Zara?

HugoYorway · 01/01/2025 20:13

Tessa - like Tess, Tessa is OK
Serena - like but most of the ones I know use different spellings (Sarina, Serina etc)
Elena - too many ways of saying it. It's another Ellie.
Keira - don't really like it, but I Ciara is OK (but looks too much like Clara)
Kyra - awful.

Shmee1988 · 01/01/2025 20:15

Aria.... my fave girl name and it ends with 'a'

yakame · 01/01/2025 20:28
