Hi everyone!

Little boy due in May and wondering how many others have used the name/ met children with the same name.

I know it’s been sneaking up in popularity, it wouldn’t be a deal breaker as DH and I both adore the name - just more out of curiosity :)

We have a Felix in the family. It suits him 😊

RubyBirdy · 28/12/2024 19:08

There are 7 in my daughter’s nursery and we know another two! It’s the most common boys name that I know, I actually know even more than Noah’s.

teatoast8 · 28/12/2024 19:11

Cute name 😊

hockityponktas · 28/12/2024 19:12

We have a Felix in the family. He’s a cat.

I love Felix, but am also concerned about popularity. In England and Wales on a large scale level it seems to be stagnating where it is. Local popularity is so localised that unless you know a lot of young children in your area or ask a friend with children already, it’s a stab in the dark. Names can form a random pocket of popularity where there are several in a class (a Mumsnetter poster about four Vincents in her son’s class), but on a national level it’s just not that popular. Personally I don’t know any, but I don’t know many children (other than birth announcements from people on Facebook).

Moreteaandchocolate · 28/12/2024 19:28

I don’t know any!

I really like it, my 19yo had one in his class who is the only one I know.

Mumofyellows · 28/12/2024 19:33

I'm a teacher and have known 2 in the last 15 years or so, I think it's a lovely name!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 28/12/2024 19:41

Oh dear, I apologise, I have misread Felix for Fritz. Anyway a good laugh it was, in those days.

It's probably banned now, so use the nane Felix as you wish. 🐱

Leeloo1233 · 28/12/2024 20:52

My nephew is a three year old Felix and there's another one at my dd's daycare. Amazing name, international but not everywhere like Noah or Theo!

We have a Felix in the family. He’s a cat.

Same here.
The Danish Royal family has a young man called Felix. He doesn't look catish.

shoopshoopdedoo · 28/12/2024 21:17

I know of six of nursery age and younger. Don’t know any older than that, so I’d also be worried it’s having a bit of a moment!

Ketzele · 28/12/2024 21:36

My grandad was called Felix! He died a couple of years ago, aged 103, so no risk of him bring in your kid's class at school...

user2848502016 · 28/12/2024 22:03

I like it

happylittlesoul · 29/12/2024 19:11

Some very interesting replies! :)

I’m yet to meet a little Felix where we live but our other DC are still small (Yr2 and below) so perhaps we live in an area where it’s not overly popular.

Thank you so much for your responses!

I love it and tried to name both my son's it- but my partner didn't like it enough and associated it with the cat food advert. I did manage to get it to be my youngest son's middle name though!

FloraSpoke · 29/12/2024 19:19

I know of 2 Felixes at my son’s nursery (NW) and have two work colleagues who live in Herts and south London who have 3 year olds called Felix.

chuffoff · 29/12/2024 19:30

I have a 3 year old Felix. Originally shortlisted it for my 10 year old (was usurped by a family name) and haven't noticed it climbing in popularity in our area in that time.

JesusHChristOnABike · 29/12/2024 20:22

I have an almost 19 year old Felix & love his name as much now as I did when he was a squishy little newborn
