I like Timothy but tbh I do not like Darryl very much.

youngbutnotdumb · 02/05/2008 10:26

My wee cousin is called Daryl and I always thought it ws a lovely name it goes well with Timothy too. Daryl is still a name that isn't weird but on the whole quite rare which is why it appeals I think.

gingerninja · 02/05/2008 10:27

Agree with artichokes sorry but for me it's an association thing. Really though, if you like it what does it matter, you'll never get complete agreement.

Sorry, I don't like Darryl at all. Could be either sex, and I'm not too keen on ambiguous names. For some completely irrational reason, when I look at the name "Darryl", I don't like the "y" in it, but I don't want to see it with an "i" either. I know that's ridiculous!

Pinkjenny · 02/05/2008 10:29

Reminds me of Mallory Towers.

I don't like it either.
I wouldn't say it was unisex though. I only know of one female Darryl (Darryl Hannah). Mostly it's a boy's name.

cheesesarnie · 02/05/2008 10:38

not keen on darryl.but i love timothy

Pinkjenny · 02/05/2008 10:40

Ha ha janitor - I loved Mallory Towers so much. I always wanted to be called Gwendoline.

Then I graduated onto Judy Blume, but that's a whole different ball game.

TigerFeet · 02/05/2008 10:49

Agree, it makes me think of Malory Towers.

I so wanted to be Darrell Rivers.

What about Timothy Darryl if you're set on those names? Timothy for a Sunday name, Timmy when he is little and Tim to his mates? Darryl would end up as Daz .

I know a baby Ralph (pronounced Rayfe rather than Rallf). He is very cute and Ralph suits him.

Scotia · 02/05/2008 10:55

I like it, but prefer Daryl with 1 'r'. There was a Daryl in my primary school class years ago.

duchesse · 02/05/2008 10:56

Have to say that Darryl always reminds me of Leslie. It's kind of unisex, isn't it (viz Darryl Hanna or whatever her name is...)
