30 weeks pregnant with 2nd boy - no names at all

Already have a 3 year old Finley whose name I absolutely love but I just don't really like any others despite going through plenty of lists none stand out for me. I don't like names such as Theo, Noah, Joshua, Harry etc (find them very boring and common as muck). Originally we liked Fraser but I just don't love it so not sure on using it. Keen to hear others opinions on Fraser? We don't have any other ones that are even in the run in. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Not too common but also not too out there.

Fraser is a nice name. Classic but not over used.
How about - Nathan, Caleb, Ross, Frederick?

Common as muck, delightful.
I guess it depends where you live, DD goes to school with three Frasers and 5 Finley’s (age 12/13) but no Harry’s for example.

Emanwenym · 27/12/2024 09:20

Like Fraser a lot but 2 F names are too much. If you count Finley and it's various spellings and Finn, that's very popular.

It looks a bit like you are only looking at names that have recently popular. I'd look through both sides of the family tree for first and middle names, and possibly surnames for inspiration.
Darkgreener is useful for checking popularity and trends, and the ONS site shows popularity in your region. Both sites only cover England & Wales, but there's a site on Babies' First Names 2023 - National Records of Scotland (NRS).

Suggestions-

Callum
Scott
Mitchell
Peter
Jonathon
Jacob

Fraser is a perfectly okay name, but not my cup of tea.

Emanwenym · 27/12/2024 09:40

@Snowmanscarf , that's a nice list apart from the misspelling of Jonathan, and Scott seems a bit 1970s. I like Jonathan and Peter and they're classic.

LeticiaMorales · 27/12/2024 10:02

Callum is really very popular, although that may not bother you too much.

Mince3141 · 27/12/2024 10:20

Are you aiming for a Scottish sort of vibe? I'd suggest:
Ross
Rory/ruarhi (seen this spelled a few ways, make sure you pick the right one for you!)
William
Fergus

Not a huge fan of Fraser, it's just a bit bland, but that's not necessarily a bad thing if you have a more interesting surname.

Jeeeeez · 27/12/2024 10:32

Where I am Finley is just as common as those other names. Both my DC have friends called Finley.

Emanwenym · 27/12/2024 10:37

Ross is nice.
I like Fergus too but not with Finley. Angus or Magnus?

If you want another F name how about Franklin? Wont repeat any of the names listed above but I also think Archer would go well with Finley. Good luck x

I like Fraser and think Finley & Fraser go well together.

Common as muck - how charming. That's my son then apparently.

FatFiatMultiplaWhopper · 27/12/2024 18:37

I would absolutely put Finley in the same category as "Theo, Noah, Joshua, Harry etc" which you rudely describe as "common as muck" and boring.

I wouldn't. It's inoffensive and popular but it's a surname and I don't think it will date well. It's like the current Bradley or something.
Noah and Joshua are from the Bible, and Harry is the name of a prince, so that makes them classic. I know too many Harrys, Noahs and Joshuas to use the names. I don't like Theo (Theodore is awful).

SaveMeFromMyBoobs · 27/12/2024 19:29

Finley is very common so anything too or there would be out of place next to it.

How about Nolan, Reid, Bodie?

Yes charming, not, I have to say Finley is very common where I live.
