Zara Maria

Posted before about picking between names. Now we are certain Zara is the first name.

DH has said I can pick any middle name I like.
My preference is by far Zara Maria as Maria is my middle name and my mums. Other option is Elisabeth who was my grandma.

Is Zara Maria too many a's and r's or is it nice ?

Surname is Malik which adds more Ma to the mix.

I like it OP. Normally i would say too many as ands rs but Zara Maria Malik flows beautifully.

Muthaofcats · 23/12/2024 14:45

Love Zara but don’t think it goes well with Maria.

Middle names are pointless and no one ever uses them though so call her whatever you like; if Maria means something to you then go for it

TwilightCat · 23/12/2024 14:46

Don’t really think Elisabeth goes.

saltandvinegarchipsticks · 23/12/2024 14:55

I think that’s a lovely name, OP.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/12/2024 15:06

Imo it’s more important to go with a middle name that has meaning to you/DD than thinking about “flow” for a full name that will probably only be said out loud in public very occasionally.

Having said that, I think the whole name sounds fine - I quite like repeated letters in names as they sound lyrical and more memorable to me.

ETA: Elisabeth as a middle is also nice but makes the name sound a bit more ordinary to me - as I said, I like the repeats in Zara Maria M (in fact if it’s wasn’t already in use by your mum, I’d go for Maria Malik! Very memorable)

Moreteaandchocolate · 23/12/2024 18:22

It’s not a perfect flow but it’s more important that it’s meaningful than that it flows.

Or how about Zara Marianne / Marianna, Zara Marie, Zara Mary, if you think they flow better?

PestoPastaChaChaCha · 23/12/2024 18:24

I think it’s beautiful as it is set out and all goes well. I have two middle names. You could use both? No one ever uses middle names so it isn’t a big deal. My DD has my two middle names which are family names.

shoopshoopdedoo · 24/12/2024 00:20

Love it. Love them individually, together, and with the surname. I don’t think they sound bad together. Although, actually, I don’t think it matters if middle names “go” - to me, it’s more important that there’s some sort of personal significance, otherwise no point given they are so rarely used!

Carrotandparsnip · 24/12/2024 00:20

It’s lovely!

Both Zara Maria Malik and Zara Elisabeth Malik are nice.

Choose your favourite.

TribulationPeriwinkle · 24/12/2024 13:41

Both options are lovely! Zara Elisabeth Malik has a slightly better flow, but there’s not much in it.

Firsttimebabymummy · 24/12/2024 21:26

Zara Maria is gorgeous. Would 100% use that. Using both would be nice too. Middle names are hardly used.

CrimsonVioletTeal · 25/12/2024 21:59

I love Zara Maria.

Mandarinaduck · 25/12/2024 22:19

Zara Maria is lovely and flows better than Zara Elisabeth because the two vowels -a E- run into each other. I think it works well with your surname too - the repetition of sounds gives it a nice rhythm.

serius · 25/12/2024 22:30

My name is Sara Maria - I have always liked it a lot myself and had many compliments for it over the years Grin

Lisbeth50 · 25/12/2024 22:33

Zara Maria is a lovely name.

MaxMaxy · 25/12/2024 22:34

It's nice but it does sound a bit like Ave Msria

AffAndOff · 25/12/2024 22:55

OP, If I could chose I'd go for Zara Marie that sounds utterly beautiful and still based on your mum's and your middle names but made your dd's own. Zara Maria is not my cup of tea nor is Zara Elisabeth. Maybe Zara Elise.

Freshflower · 26/12/2024 00:32

Zara is lovely and Maria is meaningful, it sounds absolutely fine as a whole name

theduchessofspork · 26/12/2024 18:30

I think Zara Elizabeth is very nice and works better

Zara Maria is a lot of rs, and especially with the double mm is a bit awkward. But it’s perfectly usable

theduchessofspork · 26/12/2024 18:30

MaxMaxy · 25/12/2024 22:34

It's nice but it does sound a bit like Ave Msria

This too

Roselilly36 · 26/12/2024 18:54

I love both names, but I don’t think they go well together.
