What the hell are parents thinking with these two.
Anally and Orally?
Nightmare.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Really?

Aurelie is a beautiful French name.

If your mind goes to oral sex when you hear a word that sounds like orally (of the mouth), that's on you!

Mouths are for much more than that:/

Doesn't it come from Aura / Gold?

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 22/12/2024 18:56

It's Aurelie and it's a lovely name imo. I've never heard of Anneli.

Spaceid · 22/12/2024 18:58

Sounds like you don’t know many people of a different nationality to you. Maybe a good NY resolution would be to broaden your friendship group!!

Spaceid · 22/12/2024 19:02

In the UK and US there are a lot of men called Dick and Roger! I believe Fanny also used to be a popular name many moons ago! Do you read a lot OP?

FoggyDay58 · 22/12/2024 19:05

Anneli sounds nothing like 'anally'. Its Anna-lee. Very much a you problem, not a them problem.

SkaneTos · 22/12/2024 23:55

Annelie and Anneli are popular names in my Scandinavian home country. They are beautiful names.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/12/2024 00:24

They aren’t names I would want to risk personally at your typical English Comprehensive, but in most of the rest of world they are likely fine (and quite pretty imo).

Edited as I can’t spell!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 23/12/2024 01:15

I’m with you op. I think they’re awful names. It seems we’re very minority though.

user1492757084 · 23/12/2024 06:43

Anneli reminds me of pasta.
Aurelie is sweet.

JoJothegerbil · 23/12/2024 06:47

My French penpal was called Aurelie. It’s a lovely name and until I read this I’ve never associated it with Orally. I still don’t.

fatphalange · 23/12/2024 18:02

You're saying them wrong.

SunshineAndFizz · 23/12/2024 18:10

Huh?

Catlord · 23/12/2024 18:19

Anneli is appreciably different from anally. Different vowel sounds. Aurelie is stressed differently from orally. I've never connected either.

I think it's quite tedious to find a name that sounds a bit like something rude and point it out
