Did anyone else name a doll Topsy after the book character, and find out later that it's not a name?

I called my cat Topsy when l was a child.
Loved Topsy and Tim books.
I've also read this book..

Her abusive guardian called her "Little Lonely", but the sisters called her "Topsy". After being brought to England, she took the name Eileen Guy. I vaguely recall a kids book with that name .
I didnt have dolls as a kid but all my teddies had human names .
( all my pets have also had human names apart from my current cat whom I didn't name )

My nickname for DD when she had a mop of ringlets. It has a very encouraging feel to it.

Also reminds me of the Cole Porter song “You’re the Top”.

Mondonomo says it's a girl's name in Nigeria and South Africa- but rare. So the little girl in Uncle Toms Cabin might in fact have had a West African name.

My granny gave me a Topsy doll when I was young. They were quite common in the early 60s. She walked and said mama. Sadly she no longer says mama, as the mechanism is broken, but I still have her.
Edited to add, she's made out of some hard black material by Pedigree.

Tipsy and Tim. Loved the books when I was a kid but Jesus the most irritating kids show on CBeebies a few years ago.

it was Topsy’s foster mother in China who was abusive, I believe (sent her out to beg) not any of the three missionary ladies.

Topsy is a character in a book. I've never known a real Topsy.

I know of two people called Mopsy - I think an endearing nick name for a child with lovely hair...and there are Peter Rabbit's sisters - Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton -Tail.

All topsy turvy means all in array, jumbled and messed up.

We have a rabbit named Topsy.

Topsy is such a too old name. these days japanese names with K at first are on the rise and are quite unique with many beautiful meanings. gotta go with these next times...
