Thinking of using the name Rory but family member recently had a Robin. Is it too similar?

No. It's fine and a nice name!

For siblings, I would say too similar, but for cousins etc, it’s fine. Lovely name too.

Too similar for siblings.
Not too similar for more distant family relationships.

BoleynMemories13 · 12/12/2024 19:24

Not at all. Apart from sharing the same first two letters, they sound completely different. In fact, only the first sound is shared as the o in Robin is "oh", whereas it's part of the "or" sound in Rory.

I think you're over thinking. It's no different to having a James and Joshua born in the same year in the same family, or a Mia and Molly (for example).

FayCarew · 12/12/2024 21:23

Yes, as they're not brothers.

shoopshoopdedoo · 12/12/2024 21:26

Too similar for brothers. Other family members? Not an issue at all!

PartyLlama · 12/12/2024 21:31

Not to similar.Your choice at end of the day

sel2223 · 12/12/2024 21:32

I wouldn't say they are similar at all.

theduchessofspork · 12/12/2024 22:06

For siblings it would be a bit matchy matchy, but for cousins it's completely fine

Cotswoldmama · 12/12/2024 22:17

I think they sound nice together

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 13/12/2024 05:57

Would have said yes for siblings but not for another family member
