Final three

Due in the new year with a baby girl and I think we’re down to the final 3 names. Middle name will be Heidi to honour family

However, we now can’t pick, there seems to be pros and cons for each and it feels like the biggest decision in the world

• Willow
• Alba
• Ruby

Willow I’m not sure I can get past how popular it is
Alba I love but wonder if too out there
Ruby maybe too plain or dated?

I think Ruby is the nicest of the three, I don't think it's plain at all, and I'm not sure it was ever popular enough to be dated.
I don't think any of them flow well with Heidi if this is something that matters to you.

Ruby my favourite. I think the other two will become dated, but not Ruby.

I like Willow Heidi, but none flow well. I think Ruby has worst flow, but I like Willow the best.

I like all of your name ideas. My order would be

1. Ruby (but doesn’t flow with Heidi)
2. Willow (flows well but popular)
3. Alba (less common so people could mishear as Albert / Alma etc maybe?)

Kind of agree that none of them flow naturally with Heidi as a middle name. Additionally Heidi is the nicest name, is there a reason it can’t be her first name? You could also call her Heidi MiddleName Lastname, known as MiddleName.

If it were me I’d go Heidi Willow Lastname. Alba makes me think of Alex Salmond, and I agree with you OP that maybe Ruby has had its day for now.

Of all your names, I absolutely love Heidi, you couldn't have a prettier first name than that! It's sweet when they are small, and cool and elegant when they grow up.

I prefer Alba, I think it's a pretty name. (Can't imagine many would mishear and presume her name was Albert.😁) Willow is my second favourite and it wouldn't bother me too much re popularity if I loved it, but that's up to you. Going a little against the grain, but I don't like the name Ruby. Ruby Heidi doesn't flow as much in my opinion.

Alba is my least favourite - sorry but it sounds more like a cheap electrical brand than a name (I'm sure I had an Alba stereo in the 80s/90s!)

I don't like Alba - cheap 1980s electronics brand/Alex Salmond . Ruby is a bit scullery maid or puppy. Willow is the best of them. Heidi is nice.

Ruby doesn't go with Heidi unfortunately - it's both ending in the 'eee' sound that doesn't work.

I like all 3 but I don't think Ruby Heidi flows very well.
Out of the other two I would pick Willow, I just think it's a really pretty name.
Consider initials too for example she would be WHY if your surname starts with a W!

I know how you feel! The decision is so hard when there's no one name that stands out. I think they are all great. Willow is really cool and only slightly more popular than Ruby tbh. If it's not in the top 5 I wouldn't worry about it!

I'd forget about the middle name for now and pick a first name that goes with the surname.
Alba Turner sounds like Albert Earner
Willow Williams or Ruby Rigby don't really work
Ruby Murray sounds perfect

Ruby is a gorgeous name and very classic so won't become dated.

Ruby is timeless. I know Rubies of all ages, from babies to ladies in their 90s. It doesn’t flow wonderfully with Heidi, but it doesn’t really matter as nobody uses their full name very often.
