Pregnant after many years of fertility treatment... madly excited and already thinking about names!!

These are names I like so far... thoughts or other similar suggestions very welcome... We like names associated with nature and my partner loves Greek/Roman mythology - not essential but it's a plus if it has links to these!

Boys:
Theseus, shortened to Theo
Leonardo/ Leo
Eliot
Arthur
August (due in August!)
Robin

Girls:
Athena
Persephone
Willow
Ivy
Amber
Aurora

I love your existing list, so I'll go through ones I would get rid of to help find ' the one' rather than add any into the mix! I'd get rid of Arthur - there's so, so many out there, the world doesn't need another Arthur! Ivy is nice, but really blends into the Evie, Eva, Ava trend imho so comes across a bit blah. Leonardo is great, but Leo is again very overdone, and kind of merges into the Theo, Leo, Arlo etc trend.

Athena and Robin are my absolute faves.

Boys:
Theseus, shortened to Theo - Theo massively overused
Leonardo/ Leo - not keen on Leonardo. Love Leo but it's very popular
Eliot - several spellings might be a pain.
Arthur - very popular
August (due in August!) - not keen
Robin - OK

Girls:
Athena - OK, doesn't shorten very well
Persephone -too long
Willow - nice but popular
Ivy - too popular and too Evie/Ava/
Amber - nice
Aurora - too many Rs

Agree that Arthur, Leo and Theo are overused and starting to sound dated as they hall out of fashion.

Your other options are way more timeless!

Sunnyflow · 02/12/2024 14:48

Sorry fall

I love Robin for a boy (I'm a big Bee Gees fan and Robin Gibb happened to be my favourite of them) and I also really like Robin Williams. Arthur is nice too.

Does your partner also like names that are linked to Celtic/Arthurian mythology, or specifically just Greek and Roman?

Given by your interests, here are some suggestions:

Girls
Diana - Roman Goddess
Venus - Roman Goddess
Luna - Roman Goddess
Violet
Rose
Summer
Lily
Holly
Hazel
Rhiannon (Welsh mythology)
Niamh (Irish mythology)

The only one I'd avoid is August for a baby born in August, it just seems a bit twee imo

Thank you so much for all the replies - some really nice suggestions to think about! :)

Sometimes you look at lists of baby names out of context and your eyes start to boggle - it's really helpful to have people suggest things individually!
