Middle names for our boy?

We're set on Tarn for a first name (after a relative), but need a shortish more classic-sounding middle name. Here's the shortlist. Which do you prefer? Any other suggestions? We like Arthur and maybe Henry but can't use them. We can't use Edward either. He'll have two surnames, which is why we'd like something short-ish.

Ellis
James
August
Louis
Edgar
Lloyd (too surname-y maybe)
Joseph

I like Tarn Joseph and Tarn Louis best.

Tarn Edgar is also nice - Tedgar

Tarn Joseph is my favourite
Also like Tarn Edgar (depending on surname enitials) Eg wouldn't want T E A R or T E A T

Tarn Oscar

Thank you! We're lucky with the surname. The order of the initials can't easily make up a word in English.

Lloyd is my favourite though it doesn't sound nice with Tarn.

Lachlan Lloyd
Edgar Lloyd
Joseph Lloyd
Angus Lloyd
Mungo Lloyd

Tarn has an attractive meaning.

Thank you! I think we've narrowed it down further to Tarn Joseph, Tarn August (August is another family name), or Tarn Oscar now. 🙂

Tarn Oscar is particularly passionate and theatrical in an operatic sense...
Think - Tosca

Thanks for pointing that out! I hadn't thought of it. I'm not particularly keen on that opera, but I don't dislike the reference. I can definitely get behind a bit of passion and flamboyance in my boy!

Yeah, I can see his friends maybe going for this in the pre-teen years, or he can use it if he wants something gender neutral.

I don't think we wouldn't shorten it to TJ unless he wanted us to, but I don't hate it. Better than BJ! 😳
