I still really like Clemency - yes I know everyone hates it?

i love Raphaëlle because it’s one of my favourite characters and I love Raph as a nickname

but was watching a Danish film ans the heroine was Vigga and I really liked it

Vigga sounds like a sofa from IKEA

It seems everyone thinks it’s too similar to ‘viagra’, but I think it’s too similar to a racial slur, frankly.

The world is very mobile. I know plenty of people from other countries with names that are not common here and no one bats an eyelid. Well no one half educated who has experience of more than their village.

It sounds like a word that could be confused with a very negative racial slur. So it’s a no from me.

Well, that’s generally a good thing, but perhaps not for a name for a baby girl!

Sigrun does not sound pleasing in English. And Vigga sounds like something flat pack from IKEA

I would do Vida, Clemence or Rafaella, all very pretty and a little more manageable

Nobody wants a name they have to explain or spell all the time. I speak from experience.

I assumed Vigga is the female version of Viggo and she’s having a girl? Luckily Viggo doesn’t have the same connotations of Vigga, see the many answers on this thread for those.

I reckon everyone will mishear and think you/she are saying “vegan”.

Which is possibly less negative than the other associations mentioned on the thread, but is more likely to cause confusion .

I can just imagine all the pursed mouths about feeding a vegan diet to a newborn/being a hypocrite having a vegan baby “but I swear I saw her put milk in her coffee at the last NCT meet up.”
And it will follow your daughter through her life (ffs that girl told me she was vegan before even telling me her name, like I care what she eats, these vegans are so attention seeking!)

Vigga makes me think of the n slur or the words viagra or vagina. I know that it’s a real accepted name, just from a UK English perspective.
