Is this too close?

Pregnant with DD2 and really struggling with names. DH and I are mostly agreed on Hallie, don't know about a middle name yet.

My sister (who is also pregnant) has always been open about wanting to call her first boy Harrison. We won't know what she's having before baby arrives.

She always specifies Harrison but I don't know how she feels about Harry as a nn. Are Hallie and Harry too similar?

I don't want to bring it up with DH yet in case it puts him off, there's nothing else we can agree on. I need some impartial opinions.

Of course, she might have a girl, but we won't know in time.

No they're fine, obv Harry and Hallie sound very similar but that's ok. They're cousins, not siblings that would be too close and she's talking about Harrison anyway

Moreteaandchocolate · 17/11/2024 19:49

Hallie and Harrison are fine for cousins

mathanxiety · 17/11/2024 20:10

Absolutely fine, not too close at all.

Lovely name.

Firsttimebabymummy · 17/11/2024 22:25

Absolutely fine. Love Hallie BTW!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/11/2024 23:04

Even if she uses the name, Hallie and Harry/Harrison are fine for cousins - it’s obvious the similar sounds are a coincidence, not like it would be if they were siblings.

LOVE Hallie! And think Hallie and Harry as cousins is really quite sweet <3

SkaneTos · 17/11/2024 23:58

Hallie and Harrison/Harry are perfectly fine for cousins.

I will write what I always write, I have first cousins in my family named Chris and Christopher, both boys, born the same year. Not a problem.

Hallie is a lovely name.

Thanks everyone, that's good to know. If anyone has any great suggestions on middle names too, that would be great!

Not particularly although it feels weird just picking a name because we like the sound!

We were discussing Nicole although we both prefer Nicola as a stand alone name, Nicole flows better with our surname (ends in an uh sound).

Hallie Nicole is really nice!

Normally I'm in the camp of 'if you are asking the question then yes' however I think these 2 are fine for cousins

Love Hallie Nicole
