Please help me with a sibling name for Frederick James nn Freddie. We like classic and timeless but fresh names. Here are our options, feel free to suggest other similar names:

  • Lily Katherine - nn Lily
  • Isobel Elise - nn Isa
  • Katherine Elise - nn Kate
  • Isobel Katherine - nn Isa

Thank you very much!

I like Katherine Elise the best. Is Katherine Lily an option? I like that one better.

shoopshoopdedoo · 11/11/2024 12:08

I also like Katherine Lily best, if that could work? If not, my vote is for Lily Katherine followed by Katherine Elise. Isobel is OK, but I think you might have difficulty getting Isa to stick.

Furrelise · 11/11/2024 12:16

Yes, I'm not a huge fan of Izzy as a nickname and worry that people will call her that eventually. Thank you for the input.

I honestly love all those names! Maybe Katherine the most just because it's underused compared to Lily and Isobel. However, all are lovely and go well with Freddie
There are twins on The Archers called Freddie and Lily so you'll get some comments from Archers fans if you go for Lily.

timoteigirl · 11/11/2024 12:17

Katharine is the one I like best from your suggestions.

Did you consider Eleanor?

Thanks, I really like Katherine and Kate but worry that it's not as fresh as the other options but will seriously consider. Eleanor is really beautiful but too close to her cousin's name that we see often.

I like Katherine Elise, but Katherine Lily is even better.

I like Lily Katherine too.

As a sibling for Freddie, I'd prefer Kate so you don't have two names with similar endings.

Isobel is gorgeous, but as someone else says, Isa will be difficult to make stick unfortunately.

Forgottenmyphone · 11/11/2024 13:19

Lily and Isobel don't feel very fresh to me. They're very overdone where I am.
How about:
Harriet
Eliza
Matilda
Jessica
Francesca

Manchesterbythesea · 11/11/2024 13:24

They are all nice but as someone with an Isabelle I can’t see Isa sticking tbh. My lady has never had a nickname with us. Her boyfriend calls her Izzy which secretly riles me. I think Kate goes well with Freddie.

Mumofgirls2017 · 11/11/2024 15:14

I like Isobel Catherine

Lily Katherine or Katherine Lily are clear winners for me personally

Moreteaandchocolate · 11/11/2024 17:11

All are nice names, but unfortunately I've gone off Isobel as it's so overused around me (when you include the spelling variants). I also guarantee she'll become Issy or Bella by secondary school.

Lily or Katherine (Kate) are perfect with Freddie. I think I'd pick Lily, as although there aren't many little Kates, thinking long term there are so many adult Kates in every age group, so she'd likely have to become Kate Surname at some point in her life.

StressedQueen · 11/11/2024 17:51

I mean I know 2 Isabel's who don't go by Izzy and it doesn't seem to be an issue to be fair. Isa may not stick. There is Isadora or Isolde if you like those perhaps?

I also agree that Katherine Lily flows really will and is lovely

Cecilly · 11/11/2024 18:10

I think Elizabeth would go nicely with Frederick

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 12/11/2024 20:26

I actually like all your options but Katherine works best with Frederick in style imo (both retro classics with lots of nn options).

Katherine Elise is fine but I agree with a pp that Katherine Lily sounds especially lovely- Lily is in the vein of the gorgeous but unfortunately now generic middle name Rose but is less boring/overused.

If you are worried about nn’s though then maybe stick with Lily Katherine - it would be my 2nd choice anyway as Lily is another retro classic (albeit quite popular now as a first name, but that does mean she can easily get tat with her name on it in shops!)

Both Isobel and Katherine have multiple nn choices and you can’t guarantee Isa or Kate when older, so it might be more of a risk (Izzy and Belle are very popular and I think Kit/Kitty is as fashionable now as Kate).

sel2223 · 12/11/2024 20:38

Not a fan of Isobel Elise because of the el-El

I prefer Katherine as the middle name so either Isobel or Lily Katherine would be my pick

scibidy86 · 12/11/2024 22:33

When I was pregnant with my DD2 we had the name Isabelle Lilly on our list.

We chose Poppy Charlotte but it took a while to decide between the 2.

Is Isobel Lily an option?

Foreverdancing · 12/11/2024 23:14

Katherine Grace or
Alice Katherine would be lovely 🥰

mathanxiety · 12/11/2024 23:50

Katherine Elise (or Katherine Isobel) would be so nice.

  • Isobel Elise - nn Isa
  • Katherine Elise - nn Kate
  • Isobel Katherine - nn Isa

Lily is very overused, there are so many Lilys around here not that it’s not a pretty name.

Katherine just reminds me of Kate Middleton, I wouldn’t be surprised if it gain popularity especially if Charles isn’t on the throne long. Again not terrible I just wouldn’t be able not to associate.

Not a fan of Isobel, no idea why.

Elsie is lovely, there is an Elsie in my DDs school.

Along those lines

Kathleen
Cecilia
Ada
Rose
Lillian
Florence
Edith
Imelda
