Middle name in part of first name for another baby to much?

We have a lovely little girl called Winter Louise and if we were to have another one in the future I do like the name Elouise is this too much? Our little girls middle name is my mums name who I lost 14 years ago.

Elouise / Eloise is lovely and fine with your first daughter’s middle name 😊

Pemba · 09/11/2024 23:28

It's spelled Eloise, not Elouise, and it may sound superficially similar to Louise but it actually a completely different name with a different origin.

It's not said El-Louise (loo-eez), but El-loh-eez with an 'oh' sound. Gorgeous name, one of my favourites.

Although I also like Louise and that's a lovely tribute to your mum.

I don't think it would cause too much confusion, as the Louise in your other daughter's name is a middle one.

KirstenBlest · 10/11/2024 19:24

Elouise is awful. Call her Eloise or Louise not a mash-up of both.

Singleandproud · 10/11/2024 19:26

No one uses or sees middle name so most would not know the older child's middle name. Do spell it Eloise though.

orchid81 · 10/11/2024 19:31

Eloise is a lovely spelled correctly and pronounced right.

Meowingtwice · 10/11/2024 19:34

Just call her Louise, as its your other daughters middle name that's not confusing.

You can’t give sisters the same name.

Eloise is beautiful though,

Eloise is a lovely name although exact pronunciation may be a regional thing..... in my accent I can't hear any difference at all between

Eh - loo - eez
Eh - low - eez

Winter Louise is sweet.

You could use Eloise.
Did your mother have a second name that you could use for your second daughter's second name?

Manchesterbythesea · 11/11/2024 08:37

Just use Louise, why stick an e on it. Louise is a gorgeous name. I also love Winter!

Frozensnow · 11/11/2024 08:39

Eloise is lovely and a different name to Louise.

Elouise looks wrong to me and I’m guessing would be pronounced differently to Eloise. Eloise is much prettier imo and would be fine with the sisters name

Wegovypictures · 11/11/2024 08:49

It's fine but it's a very odd combination for siblings with Winter.

Eloise is beautiful though,

My BIL's middle name is my DH's first name. In over 50 years it has caused neither of them any issues.

The OP's first born is called Winter Louise, she can't use the same name twice

Manchesterbythesea · 11/11/2024 09:57

I was just saying Winter is a beautiful name. I wasn’t expecting the op to use it twice.

LeticiaMorales · 11/11/2024 10:04

Eloise is a lovely name.
The only problem would be if your daughter Winter didn't like her first name (it's quite marmite) and used her middle name instead, it could be confusing.

pimplebum · 11/11/2024 10:07

Only you and grandparents will remember your first daughters middle name

prince louis has an older brother george Louis

Sorry, I misunderstood

And it’s odd. All the names in the whole world and they use the same one twice.

KirstenBlest · 11/11/2024 17:06

@O6bftdff , the royals are limited by which names they can use. They need the monarch's approval. Maybe they really wanted to call their baby Tigerpaws-Baby or something

KSM89 · 17/06/2025 02:13

No, my mum only has one middle name. I don’t want to use her first name. I just saw the name Eloise and thought it was a really lovely name but was unsure if it was too much next to my daughters middle name x

May I ask why you think it is odd?

I have an Eloise. Beautiful name spent the last 22 years spelling it though.
watch out for the ‘short’ nicknames. She doesn’t mind Elle but Ellie really grates on her.
