It's been challenging to decide on a name for our baby. We've thought of:

Oliver Sebastian
Eric Sebastian
Elliot Vincent
Elliot Sebastian
Sebastian

Which of these names would you choose? I want an elegant, posh, timeless and yet trendy name. Thanks 😘

I wouldn’t describe any of your choices as trendy (I hope that doesn’t cause offence!).

My personal favourite is Oliver Sebastian because I feel like those two names go well together. I dislike the name Eric, I think it’s quite dated but that’s just personal opinion. Elliot is the least “posh” of your options, I don’t think it works with Vincent as they are completely different vibes.

More name options that I think fit the brief of posh and trendy are:
Miles
Hugo
Theodore (nn Theo makes it the trendy)
Rupert
Tobias
Lando
Felix
Caspar

They are all good names!

My favourite name combination of those would be Eric Sebastian.

Mebebecat · 04/11/2024 23:11

Eric Sebastian.
Eric is cool and Sebastian quite unusual these days

OneAliCat · 04/11/2024 23:11

Elliot Sebastian

StampOnTheGround · 04/11/2024 23:12

I agree that none of the names are particularly trendy.

Oliver - extremely popular but of course a nice name
Eric - outdated, not to my taste at all
Elliot - not offensive, nice enough but not posh at all
Sebastian - quite like

I like Oliver Sebastian from your choices!

BrieHugger · 04/11/2024 23:14

Alexander Vincent? Timeless but got a bit more about it than some of the others.

Oliver Elliot would be my choice from your options. Not a fan of Sebastian at all, it’s the ‘bast’ short for bastard sound, I think!

Elsa2025 · 04/11/2024 23:23

I am open to other names, too.

Ellis is posher than Elliot and less popular I think.

I like Elliot. I wouldn't describe it as either posh or trendy though. That's probably why I like it though, as posh and trendy would be far from my taste!

Sebastian seems like the most 'posh' on your list, but when shortened to Seb it becomes cool and trendy. So I'd recommend that one if that's the vibe you're going for.

lasagnelle · 05/11/2024 05:48

Elliot Vincent

MaggieBsBoat · 05/11/2024 05:53

Sebastian Dominic?

sebastian Conrad?

Not Eric! This for me is dated and like a Trevor or Derek.

MerryMarys · 05/11/2024 07:25

but when shortened to Seb it becomes cool and trendy

I don't like Seb at all - it reminds me of sebaceous/oily and sounds so soft. Not cool or trendy at all imo.

Of your suggestions,op, I prefer Eric.

sel2223 · 05/11/2024 07:30

I love the name Sebastian!

Oliver is a classic, also like Elliot..... the only one I really don't like is Eric

Firsttimebabymummy · 05/11/2024 09:03

Love Sebastian.

I'd choose that

Sebastian Phillip
Sebastian Oliver
Sebastian George

BootballJoy · 05/11/2024 09:44

Eric Sebastian

holiverterwist · 05/11/2024 09:57

Ellis is a surname. How about Elias?

GreyhoundGal1 · 05/11/2024 10:14

You seem to love Sebastian so why not use that as a first name? It fits all your criteria. I would also call it trendy because it's #39 most popular boys name in England and Wales at the moment. I think Sebastian Oliver or Sebastian George sound nice.

Anicecumberlandsausage · 05/11/2024 10:19

I don't like Sebastian. It's not s strong name. Nor Philip. Oliver is everywhere now.

Eric is a strong name. George too. Patrick is fine. William is meh.

AdaColeman · 05/11/2024 10:36

From your list, I like Sebastian and Vincent as traditional names, and Eric/Erik as a quite cool name.
I'm not keen on Elliot, and there are already thousands of Olivers.
If you are considering Philip please spell it with one L.

MerryMarys · 05/11/2024 11:57

I agree - and Seb is worse. So soft and oily (sebaceous) sounding!
