Names like Matilda / Zara / Madeleine?

PocketRocket12 · 31/10/2024 19:17

Help! Baby girl due in three weeks and still no baby names for her.

Zara, Matilda and Madeleine are at the top of my list but have all been vitoed by DH for different reasons.

He likes Orla and Erin but we’ve not settled on anything.

I suppose we like names that aren’t too fussy (although that’s a matter of opinion), not too “out there” and relatively easy to say / spell.

Our surname begins with a “T” and we already have a DS named Zachary.

What names might we like?

Lara or Clara instead of Zara? Double Z could be a bit overkill for a sibset.

These are all beautiful names! Stand out ones so far are:

Verity (but my best friend is called this so may be a bit weird?),
Clara and Cara as a good alternative to Zara

What do we think about Madison/Maddie as alternative to Madeleine/Maddie. It’s specifically Madeleine DH isn’t keen on.

All were on my long list 😃 also love Zachary.

How about:
Lara
Lila
Eden
Eliza
Bethan

I like Madison too, although do prefer Madeleine

Eliza

This was my first thought to go with Zachary - love the a in both names!

lechatnoir · 31/10/2024 20:44

Not keen on madison but I personally love madeleine. What about Adelaine/Adeline/Adalaine? Alana?

SemmaLina · 31/10/2024 20:49

Eliza is great
Agatha
Marianne

NeckolasCage · 31/10/2024 20:52

Marianne? Madison is totally not the same vibe as Madeleine - please don’t!

If your family surname is your DH’s family name - you give him ten of YOUR choices and he chooses his top three, and you argue from there!

LadyMcLadyface · 31/10/2024 20:55

How about Adrienne?

Scutterbug · 31/10/2024 20:57

Chloe? As an alternative to Clara which I adore by the way.

LaPalmaLlama · 31/10/2024 21:00

I have a Zara. If it’s helpful our other shortlisted names were Stella, Zoe and Harriet.

Tallulah!!

This isn't my real name (neither Anisty nor Tallulah) but for some reason my Mum always called me Tallulah or Lulu growing up.

And i really do like it

PocketRocket12 · 31/10/2024 21:37

Eliza… that’s really growing on me. Same with Hazel. Adding them to the list for sure. Maybe I have a thing for “Z”s that I didn’t realise.

ADORE Tallulah (gives me similar vibes to Matilda) but we have a Tallulah in the close family. Finding girls names so much harder than when we named our DS.

Elizabeth. (Gives the choice of many many nicknames if your child doesn't like the one you choose. Including Eliza, which I would assume was a shortening if I heard it)

Suzanne. Suzanna
Savannah
Zoe
Jasmine
Katherine
Isobel/Isabella/
Mackensie
Clarissa (might end up a Clara.....)

If you like Matilda and Tallulah, how about Tabitha?
