What do you think of this name for a boy?
Will people assume its a girls name? Call him Ellie etc.
Chavtastic?

Going to one of my BF babies christening on Sunday and he is called Ellis. I like it. I had another friend who called her DD Ellis which is more strange - def think of it as a boys name.

your mum is not wrong, I guess it can be for both

BigBadMouse · 25/04/2008 16:34

I only know one Ellis and he is Male (about mid 30s) - never thought of it as a girls name tbh (even before i met him).

It was No 78 on last year's top 100 Boys names list btw

I have an Ellis. After he was born my mother-in-law went to the florist to order me some flowers and the florist told her that she has a daughter named - Ellis! She said she knew it was a boy's name but she loved it and used it anyway. I think it is a gorgeous name, and definitely best for a boy.

meditrina · 29/03/2011 19:27

Ellis has always been a boys' name, and I think it's a gorgeous one!

I don't see he'd be any more likely to be an "Ellie" than Elliott, Ellias or Elijah.

MollyMurphy · 29/03/2011 19:28

I like it Wine

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 29/03/2011 21:59

I know an Ellis, same age as ds (2.5), it's a great name

ChessPiece · 29/03/2011 22:03

I like it, but I do know a man who is around age 50 who has it as a middle name and was teased at school with them calling him "Alice".

shmoz · 29/03/2011 22:05

I was at school with an Ellis, and he was definitely a boy Wink

Shashua · 16/06/2011 12:43

FairyArmadillo · 16/06/2011 16:31

I know a 4 year old and a 1 year old called Ellis. Both boys.

sparkle12mar08 · 16/06/2011 16:33

Going against the grain, and although I know it is a boys name, it just screams 'girl' to me.
