As an adult rider though most people in the riding schools I have taken lessons at had fairly regular names, rather than the usual suspects.

But doesn’t ’jolly hockey sticks & pony club’ suggest aspirational-posh (try-hard) rather than actually posh?

30 years ago I would have said Oliver, but everybody's called Oliver now.

Jessamine was (I think) the name of the girl who lived at the Big House in the village in the later Milly-Molly-Mandy books. Her mother drove a car and would pile the village children in for picnics in the countryside. This would have been the 20s, I guess.

Definitely Annabel and Arabella. Philippa too, perhaps. Boys, absolutely Jonty. And Rupert.

I'm getting quite annoyed with the name Hugo always being bullied here. We actually have a Hugo and are definitely not posh and know many little Hugos in different countries with normal parents. No idea what this pony club is.

Where is the name Hugo being bullied? 😳
