Hi all! My partner and I have been going back and forth on our list for a while now but we have managed to whittle it down to 5 options, so please let me know your thoughts or favourites of these:
Willow
Talia (pronounced Tah-lee-a)
Beau - I know this is predominantly male but I think it is cute
Melanie
Frances (After my grandad Francis)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
username35890 · 22/10/2024 00:47

Definitely Frances after your grandad ❤

bridgetreilly · 22/10/2024 03:22

I like Talia and Frances. Beau is truly awful.

HappyDane · 22/10/2024 03:27

Frances is my favourite. Willow is also nice. Beau is not great IMO because it's not just predominantly male - it refers to a male. I do agree with you that it's a nice sounding name but I think it's best to avoid. Talia is nice enough but I can take it or leave it. Not keen on Melanie.

Topseyt123 · 22/10/2024 03:40

Talia Frances would be nice, and a lovely way to honour your grandad.

I don't like Beau at all, and it is a boy's name to me, unless I think of Little Bo-Peep.

Melanie is OK, but not my favourite of your list.

merrymelodies · 22/10/2024 03:43

Beau = male
Belle = female

Firsttimebabymummy · 22/10/2024 06:00

I like Frances and Willow best
Not keen on Talia or Beau

pilates · 22/10/2024 06:05

Frances - I like the family connection

HappyDane · 22/10/2024 06:14

I agree - it's the nicest name and also has a family connection.

Frances Willow is quite lovely.

Wonderballs · 22/10/2024 06:16

Frances
I think if you like Beau it’s because of the ending as you also list Willow, so look for other girls’ names ending in O, like Juno, Hero, Clio

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 22/10/2024 06:17

Frances

Mumofgirls2017 · 22/10/2024 08:31

willow- love but may date?
talia- like this
beau- afraid prefer for boy
melanie- dated and assoc with spice girls 😂
Frances- not sure ready for come back yet so feels a bit frumpy perhaps? However I do know a little Frances!

shoopshoopdedoo · 22/10/2024 09:14

Frances! By far the nicest name on your list and love that it honours your grandad

Willow - like, but seems very now
Melanie - OK, but a bit 1970’s
Talia - dislike
Beau - not for a girl!

FayCarew · 22/10/2024 11:18

Willow - very popular but quite nice
Talia - not keen but Natalia is nice
Beau - Would you name a boy Belle? Boo is quite nice and could be short for Boudicca. Bo is sweet but BO.
Melanie - Mel
Frances - classy and nice to honour you grandad

If you like Beau, you might like Jo or Ro (Rowan/Rowena), or Mo. Noa is pretty if you don't mind that Noah is so popular, or you could have Nova or Norah

FayCarew · 22/10/2024 11:26

Mo could be short for Morwenna/Morgana/Maureen etc
Ro could be short for Rona, Rosa, Rhoda or Rhonda etc

TripleCarber · 22/10/2024 11:35

Frances 100%

Frances Willow is lovely together

mum1345 · 22/10/2024 19:50

I have a daughter named Beau!

She loves her name and I still love it too (11 years on)

Just spreading some positivity 😅
Most people comment on how they love her name x

Andoutcomethewolves · 22/10/2024 21:18

I really like Frances nn Frankie although I prefer Francesca which could still be in honour of your grandad?

Talia and Willow are both quite nice although I'd probably use them as middle names. Frances Talia/ Frances Willow? Or Francesca Willow 😉

Melanie is nice but feels a bit dated - all the ones I know are around 40-60 so not quite old enough for it to be 'granny chic' and come back into fashion again yet IMO!

Beau is obviously a boy's name although I know what you mean about it being cute. I do know two women called Bo - just Bo as a given name. I always really liked that as a name, and it's more clearly feminine. Might be an option?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 22/10/2024 21:19

Frances.

Definitely not Beau.

MissyB1 · 22/10/2024 21:19

Frances or Melanie both are very pretty.

AutumnLeaves24 · 22/10/2024 21:28

I'm sorry, we obviously have completely different taste in names, I wouldn't choose any of them. But if they were the only options & I had to choose I'd pick... Frances & call her Frankie.

she'll be adorable & that makes their name 'perfect' for them 💕

CosmoQ · 22/10/2024 21:29

Willow and Frances

GoldenLegend · 23/10/2024 02:56

Frances Talia

definitely not Beau!

Lellamir · 23/10/2024 03:05

Frances is lovely. It's the proper name of Baby, in Dirty Dancing, isn't it?
We have a Francis, who tends to be called Frank/Frankie.
So, if you like it, Frankie would be a cute day to day name, with Frances on her birth certificate.
We also have a Willow, and a Tahlia. Willow is one of several in her friendship group, and Talia/Tahlia, has become a lot more popular, since my niece was named (she's 23), if popularity matters, to you.

Lellamir · 23/10/2024 03:10

Ooh, I've just seen the suggestion of Bo, short for Boudicca. If I wasn't 55, single and celibate, I'd have a daughter, solely to use that.
I know a Bo. She's around my age, and it's not short for anything.

Aroastdinnerisnotahumanright · 23/10/2024 03:19

Isabelle Frances ? Instead of Beau Frances...
