Talia or Hayley.

Totally undecided. DH is less keen on Hayley but I think he'd come around.

Talia. It might get misspelt as the Greek Thalia but it’s a beautiful, elegant name. Hayley is okay but it’s not as interesting imo and a bit late 80’s/early 90’s in style to me.

SkaneTos · 19/10/2024 22:33

I think they are both good names.

I voted for Talia.

cheapskatemum · 19/10/2024 22:50

I vote for Talia. Hayley is dated, as pp said.

crazyunicornlady73 · 19/10/2024 22:57

Another vote for Talia, no contest for me tbf.
Talia or even shortened to Tali is lovely.
Hayley is awful though.

KatieL5 · 19/10/2024 23:08

Talia sounds chavvy. Hayley is 80’s. I’d try some others if you can.

Moreteaandchocolate · 19/10/2024 23:11

I like both. I voted for Hayley, as although some might think it dated, it’s got a really modern sound that fits with the current naming trends, and sounds really refreshing yet traditional among all the Ellie’s and Evie’s.

Raindropskeepfallinonmyhead · 19/10/2024 23:16

Eek sorry bit l think Talia is a bit chavvy as a pp said. Much prefer Hayley but then it's one of my friend's names so l might be biased.

RyTrerry · 19/10/2024 23:37

Talia
I think Hayley is dated now

Atishooo · 20/10/2024 10:06

How about Hallie?

user1492757084 · 20/10/2024 11:17

Hayley or Haylee for me.
Also love Holly.

Nicebloomers · 20/10/2024 12:30

Thalia

JimNast · 20/10/2024 12:32

Neither. I'd expect a Hayley to be about 60.
Natalia is nicer than Talia.

this!

shoopshoopdedoo · 20/10/2024 20:22

Not keen on either particularly for the reasons other have mentioned.

Thalia is lovely, if that would work?

ModernJew · 21/10/2024 12:55

Wouldn't Thalia be pronounced the same as Talia (Tal-ee-ah)? We have an oddly spelled surname so I want people to know how to spell her first name at least!

Jessie1259 · 21/10/2024 13:01

I voted Talia but prefer the spelling Thalia - pronounced the same way. Hayley is very dated now, I'd go Hallie rather than Hayley.

wandawaves · 21/10/2024 13:29

I like both, but Talia is so overused. So I would choose Hayley.

As far as Talia being easy to spell, I know a Talia, Tahlia, Tahliah, Taliah, maybe some others too, but they're the most common ones.

custardcreamsies · 21/10/2024 14:03

I like Tali, Hayley sounds quite dated.

Thalia is pronounced phonetically, so you sound the “th” - “Tha-li-a”. It’s a classical Greek name.

rainbowstardrops · 21/10/2024 15:37

I like Talia but not so keen on Hayley. I also like Mahlia.

ModernJew · 30/10/2024 20:39

What do people think about Hallie instead of Hayley? I think I prefer it, but DH isn't sure.

OP posts:
xxreeldancerxx · 30/10/2024 20:52

Much prefer Hallie .... much more modern than Hayley. Saying that, I actually love the name Thalia - so difficult choosing isn't it?

Moreteaandchocolate · 30/10/2024 21:04

Hallie does sound more modern. I like Hayley and Hallie, depending if you prefer a more modern sounding name?

Agree! I'd vote Hallie although you can't go wrong either way.

ModernJew · 31/10/2024 14:04

Every time I mention Hayley, DH thinks he would prefer Holly, but neither of us really like Holly (and not cool for a December baby). Hallie feels like a half way point between the two
