When does it get easier?

I know this is a much asked question on here but my eldest DS is nearly 4, and he has a sister who was 1 in August. At the moment it’s very full on as you can imagine and weekends are focused pretty much entirely on the kids and during the week I’m either at work or with them.

I am wondering I suppose what the tipping point for independence is. When they go off to play somewhere in the house and you don’t have to worry, when you can maybe read a book while they play.

Or maybe that’s not for at least another five / ten years?

I don't know answer to your question, but independent play is skill you need to teach them. BTW, this is baby name forum.

Like the previous poster mentioned, this is the board about baby names.

Perhaps try and ask on the Parenting board here on Mumsnet?
Lots of helpful people there.

@Nolifechildlife , report your own thread and ask to get your post moved to Parenting.
You've a 3-yr old and a 1-yr old, they'll be getting a bit more independent soon, but it can seem exhausting when they're that young.

As pp said, request to move your post to the parenting board.

But as far as more independence goes, I would assume once they start school? (hoping that anyway as DS isn’t that age yet! - I’m a SAHM and while I would hate to miss out on many of the brilliant moments, some days with a toddler can feel really long 🤣 I understand what you mean about struggling to get things done, and I’ve only got the one!)

After all, one teacher plus a TA or two can’t possibly be there for a whole reception class of 25-30 kids the way a parent can for just one or two children - so I expect they’ll soon have to get used to doing their own thing more once they have been in school for a while 🤷‍♀️
