Help me decide! Older sister is Clara. I love both names.

I prefer Lucy; it feels more timeless.

TheBelleOfBelfastCity · 15/10/2024 00:53

Emily all the way for me. Lucy just seems a bit bland - probably as there are so many of them!

Jimmyville · 15/10/2024 00:54

Sorry I love both. That’s a toughie.

DramaAlpaca · 15/10/2024 01:03

Lucy is such a lovely name. Emily is nice too, but I prefer Lucy. You can't go wrong with either really, and both go nicely with Clara.

Blossomingx · 15/10/2024 01:08

Emily

Sunplanner · 15/10/2024 01:29

Pleasant enough but to me they're both a bit predictable compared to Clara. i'd try to have two less common names.

Firsttimebabymummy · 15/10/2024 05:59

Both lovely names so you can't go wrong!

I slightly prefer Emily as like Em over Luce xx

Theresomethingaboutdairy · 15/10/2024 06:03

Emily for me. A timeless classic and I prefer the shortenings of Emily over Lucy.

OrsolaRosso · 15/10/2024 06:06

Both are lovely, but I voted for Lucy as I have one. We never shorten to Luce.

BoleynMemories13 · 15/10/2024 06:07

I prefer Lucy, out of the two, but think Emily goes better with Clara in terms of flow and style.

Personally I prefer Emma to Emily, if that's an option? I've always found Emily a bit dull, personally, whereas Emma feels a bit more feisty. Clearly I'm in a minority though, as Emily is so popular.

MerryMarys · 15/10/2024 07:31

Lucy Letby has ruined Lucy for me unfortunately.

So I'd choose Emily

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 15/10/2024 07:31

Emily

Jowak1 · 15/10/2024 07:32

Lucy! But I'm biased I have a Lucy and I love the name

BlackOrangeFrog · 15/10/2024 07:34

Emily

FayCarew · 15/10/2024 07:36

Lucy but L names are currently very popular. Emma is much nicer than Emily.

This is how I feel also.

Lucia (I prefer loo-chee-a)
Emilia
Emma
Louisa

FayCarew · 15/10/2024 10:53

Either is fine.
Lucia has many different ways of saying it, which could be an issue. I think i'd get fed up with saying 'Looch-ee-a' whenever I'd been called 'Lu-see-a'
Emilia is nice but Amelia is too popular, and the misspelling Emelia is awful.
Emma and Louisa are both nice.

CalliopePlantain · 15/10/2024 10:54

I’m a Lucy. I’d have loved to be called Emily instead

AmeliaEarache · 15/10/2024 10:58

I know too many Emilys, I think, so it feels a bit done-to-death. But that tends to vary by region.

(see also Ella and Olivia - perfectly nice names, know too many of them)

NameChange30 · 15/10/2024 11:28

Both lovely names. I prefer Lucy.

PPs have suggested a few names ending in -a but I would avoid that since you have a Clara.

Other names that might work:
Alice
Florence
Grace
Imogen
Penelope (Penny)
Rose
Ruby

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 15/10/2024 11:37

Can’t really decide between the two. Find them both nice enough names but don’t love either.

I prefer Emma, Ember and Emmy over Emily.

Liv999 · 15/10/2024 11:54

I would go for Emma over the other two but if its just between them then Emily as I don't like Lucy

Highandloww · 15/10/2024 12:10

Both are safe and boring options. It would be unfair to her if the older one is Clara. I would look for one with a similar vibe. Claudia, Seraphina, Nina?

RuthW · 15/10/2024 12:14

Lucy is ok. Emily I'm not keen on.

NameChange30 · 15/10/2024 12:27

Clara and Claudia?! Far too similar!
