Thoughts on Vivienne?

Do you think the name Vivienne Campbell sounds good?

Our short list also includes Julia and Ava and we will ultimately pick when we meet her (she’s over due!) but I’m suddenly leaning towards Vivienne and all its sweet nick names. I would also love your thoughts and ideas for a middle name :)

Vivienne Grace
Vivienne Jane
Vivienne Claire
Vivienne Eliza
Vivienne Rose
Vivienne Louise
Vivienne ….

Those are all gorgeous.
my personal favorite is Vivienne Louise

PragmaticIsh · 10/10/2024 05:50

Totally love Vivienne. It was top of my list but DH vetoed it.

shoopshoopdedoo · 10/10/2024 05:51

I personally find it a little bit long and frilly, but I can see that it’s nice, with lots of nickname potential. All your middle name options work. I prefer Julia.

MirandaBlu · 10/10/2024 05:59

I like it a lot. Makes me think of the Lady of the Lake (and Vivienne Westwood). It is a little frilly, but it also avoids the possible boy-or-girl confusion over Vivian and Vivien. I know it's not on your full name list, but I really like Vivienne Julia Campbell.

Yay thanks! What do you think of Vivienne Lou? Do you think Lou stands as a middle name?

Vivienne is nice - Vivienne Eliza and Vivienne Claire are my favourites from your list 😊

Vivienne Julia would be lovely too, if you wanted to include another of your favourites? Or do you like -Vivienne Jade, Vivienne Matilda, Vivienne Leona, Vivienne Kate, Vivienne Freya?

I personally like Ava best from your shortlist, as I love a two syllable name that doesn’t tend to get shortened, but it’s so popular…

Julia is lovely too, and I like that she could choose to be Jules as a cool teen if wanted!

FayCarew · 10/10/2024 10:59

Vivienne is loved on here, but I find it a bit frilly, Viv isn't great and Vivi is awful.
My mum has a friend with the name, and she's V (vee)

FayCarew · 10/10/2024 11:02

Vivienne Grace
Vivienne Jane
Vivienne Claire
Vivienne Eliza
Vivienne Rose
Vivienne Louise

Other than Eliza, which is too long (although Elizabeth isn't), are filler middle names. Louise is the better of them.

Firsttimebabymummy · 10/10/2024 13:55

Vinienne is my favourite too from your list.

Love Vivienne Lousie! Vivienne Lou would work too.

Julia is nice, not keen on Ava.

Atishooo · 10/10/2024 14:44

I personally don’t like it at all, but I had a great Aunt Viv so it’s always felt old lady to me.

Ava Campbell flows so much better but Ava has been done to death, there are so many, especially with all the Evie’s and Ivys. Also Rose/Grace are so overdone as middle names, they are quite literally every girl’s middle name currently.

SkaneTos · 12/10/2024 21:32

Vivienne is a beautiful name! I like the similar name Vivianne, too.

All the names on your list are lovely names.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 12/10/2024 23:30

If you like Julia, Ava and Vivienne equally- then I probably wouldn’t go for the one that might easily be misspelt (Vivien/Vivian). I suppose you could argue Ava could be too (as some other countries pronounce Eva that way), but Ava is so popular now in the UK that it’s unlikely to happen here.

Personally due to classic feel vs popularity vs simplicity my favourites in order would be Julia, Ava, Vivienne - but all three are pretty choices.

If you don’t have a particular family name in mind for a middle name, then why not mix them up - Julia Vivienne or Vivienne Julia sounds nice imo.

RainbowsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 12/10/2024 23:59

My DD is Vivienne ( nn Vivi - so yah boo sucks to pp who said it was awful) named for favourite great aunt and because I splurged on a VW wedding dress 😂 DH surname has a double diphthong so we needed a strong first name - most girls nam s clash and sound horribly clunky with it.
Her bff is Bette (as in Grable) _ another classic.

Dawevi · 13/10/2024 00:00

Vivienne like the drag queen? That would totally put me off the name.

Enough4me · 13/10/2024 00:05

How do you feel about the nn Viv for a baby/child?

I have a lovely friend Viv, but she is in her 50s.

How about Genevive as similar but nn is Evie?

JC03745 · 13/10/2024 00:08

My 1st thought was Vivienne- ahh 'The prostitute from Pretty Woman'. I think I've only seen the film twice, but weirdly it was my 1st thought. 😬
If you love it and like it, that it all that matters though.

Wildywondrous · 13/10/2024 00:13

There are a couple of Viviennes at dd's school, both called Vivvy, from your list I like Rose, I think it needs a one syllable middle name.

SnowFrogJelly · 13/10/2024 00:21

Lovely 🩷

peaceinourtime · 13/10/2024 15:20

Vivienne is a beautiful name.i love Vivi as a nick name

Bilingualspingual · 13/10/2024 15:28

I wanted Vivienne for a girl. I don’t think it’s frilly at all. Maybe to look at for that particular spelling, but not the sound of it. I love it.

FayCarew · 13/10/2024 17:29

@RainbowsAreNotTheOnlyFruit , if you like it and she likes it that's OK.

BeautyPageantDropout · 13/10/2024 23:26

I much prefer Julia.

Would there be any confusion? I would be extremely surprised to meet a little UK boy called Vivian in 2024. As likely as calling a son Shirley.
