Toby is the standout name from your list to me! I also like Stanley. Not keen on the others.

Do you like

Owen
Ewan / Euan
Evan

I voted Toby.

I don't ike Oakley Edward at all, but for some reason I rather like Edward Oakley.

Calliopespa · 08/10/2024 08:47

Toby.

I’m not sure Edward goes with the others? It’s quite a classic name, but I agree that switching Edward to the front means some work ok as middle names.

azafata2 · 08/10/2024 08:51

I really like Brodie!

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 08/10/2024 08:58

I didn't vote. I like Stanley and don't mind Toby. Oakley is a pair of sunglasses.
Bowen is a surname to me. Owen is nice though and goes with Edward.
I love Brodie that the first pp suggested.
Also think that Edward is a bit clunky as a second name with your choices, but least clunky with Stanley.

DuchessOfSausage · 08/10/2024 10:41

Can't see the list.
Stanley - ok
Toby - like
Oakley - dreadful. sounds like a house name
Bowen - surname to me. It's 'son of Owen'
Edward - like - won't get the inevitable Ed or Ted as a middle name
Brodie - dreadful. Makes me think of broderie anglaise

Owen is also a surname but is OK as a first name. Same with Stanley.

Thanks all! Edward is in there as am honour name to a family member so keen to find something that works with that :) totally appreciate all your comments.. funnily enough I'm not a huge fan of Oakley personally but my OH loves it hence including it in the list to see if I was just being difficult!

Bowen Edward sounds a bit like bow and arrow!

I think Edward is the nicest of them, followed by Toby.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/10/2024 18:59

Edward is fab, but I’m personally not keen on most “ee” ending names (they sound a bit childish to me) so I’m afraid I’m probably the only one that voted for Bowen! I’d much prefer classic Owen though, as I suspect Bowen might get misheard for that anyway.

user1492757084 · 09/10/2024 10:22

I voted Toby Edward.

Other ideas ..

Clement Edward
Clive Edward
Thomas Edward

I love the name Edward, so I would be going with Edward Bowen out of those, I think.

I can see Stanley being due a comeback though. Doesn't have to mean an old man who keeps pigeons forever! It has a good sound.

Oakley is a pair of sunglasses. It's as close an association as RayBan.

Wonderballs · 09/10/2024 10:58

Edward is the nicest of the lot

Only known one Toby, a woman, and I'm not really a fan of it.

I prefer Edward Oakley better too, although I guess it's not up for consideration?

YourDenimUser · 10/10/2024 10:39

Toby is lovely

Tumbler2121 · 10/10/2024 10:43

Oakley Doakley! Simpsons neighbour!

Wait till you meet baby, he'll make it clear what his name is! Also ... never met a bad James or George, although they are not on your list!

urbanbuddha · 10/10/2024 10:51

Oakley Edward. It has a certain ring to it.

urbanbuddha · 10/10/2024 10:53

Or go with Edward Oakley, and call him Ned for short.

StudioCreate · 10/10/2024 10:55

Oakleys are sunglasses

Bowen is Jim - you can't beat a bit o' bully

Or the footballer as in 'Bowen's on fire and he's shagging Dani Dyer' and is a disease and also autocorrects to bowel.
