Sibling for Inès

Hi all,

We're having a surprise sex-wise at the birth in a couple of month and still undecided. We'd like something that'll work in France and England please. We like shortish names ideally.

Thank you.

Ines and Olivier sound perfect together if it's a boy

For a girl.....Ines and Elara ?

Elektra1 · 29/09/2024 18:22

Doesn't the accent on Inés go the other way (i.e. how I've put it)?

sel2223 · 29/09/2024 18:25

Or Ines and Anais

Doesn't the accent on Inés go the other way (i.e. how I've put it)?

From Google:

The most common form Inés is Spanish, and also Galician. The Portuguese form is Inês; the French, Moroccan and Tunisian form usually Inès

Elektra1 · 29/09/2024 18:28

Ah. Never met a non-Spanish Inés. Whichever way, it's a beautiful name.

Elektra1 · 29/09/2024 18:29

What about Guy for a boy?

KirstenBlest · 29/09/2024 19:44

@Elektra1 , in Spanish, the accent indicates that the syllable is stressed. In French, it changes the sound of the letter.

I love Elise

My daughter's name pronounced A-leeez

Namesplease8 · 29/09/2024 19:58

Hi all. Thank you for the great suggestions so far - and some compliments too! It's not for everyone but it suited our daughter and she's really grown into it.

We are still totally open to new suggestions but before now had shortlisted Manon, Eloise, Amandine, Rose, Camille, Béatrice, Olivier, Raphaël, Max... Some great names mentioned are already in the family/our friendship groups eg Celine, Alizée, Louis, Hugo.

I love Guy but my husband is not so keen unfortunately. I must admit I do love it more in English than the French which sounds to me like 'ghee'.

Same with Jules - I love, he doesn't.

Anais is lovely but quite similar to Inès in the French pronunciation. We actually considered it for her.
