hi all! Currently 31 weeks pregnant and we still do not have a firm choice for our baby boy. We found one name that we both really liked - Klaus - but now my husband has given himself the ick because he is worried people will call him Claus like Santa 🤣
we have literally looked at every baby name list a million times throughout my pregnancy and just nothing is hitting. Anyone else had this issue? Are we waiting for some set feeling that just doesn’t happen 🤣

It sometimes happen you don't like any name or no name fits all, but also some parents (after using meh name) got to like their child name because it's their child name

Where do you live? I think if in uk I think many people will say it like Santa Claus until they know. If you have a German surname they are more likely to realise but it also depends on whether they are familiar with the name and the pronunciation

Klaus is great!

Do your child a big favour and choose a name that everyone can pronounce correctly and spell correctly.

Are you and/or your husband German/or from a German speaking country?
Since you like the name Klaus.
Maybe there are other German names that you would like.

I know names are a very personal thing however that is quite some list!

Klaus is very old fashioned in Germany.

How about these instead (they work well in German and English)

Karsten
Quentin
Konstantin
Caspar

My friend's son is Klaus but it is not common. What is it about Klaus you like? What about Frans or Hans?

OSU · 16/09/2024 14:36

If UK based I was going to suggest Claude. There is a Christmassy movie on Netflix called Klaus!

Is it pronounced Cl ow s or claws?

Calvin
Casper
Niklas (if going all out Xmas 😁)
