Boy Name Struggles!

Here4theaibu · 13/09/2024 18:53

DS is Wilbur, also have Oscar born too early

Currently very early pregnant and we have always agreed that a baby girl would be Edith (Edie). We struggled last time to agree on a boys name and having the same problem this time!

At the moment we both like

Otis
Otto
Aldous

I like but husband doesn't

Bruno
Hugo
Jonah

We're leaning towards Otis at the moment but any other suggestions please??!!

Albert (known as Bertie) was our second choice last time but I think I've gone off it now! I do like Barnaby and Rufus but I know my husband isn't a fan

I think Otis is winning at the moment!

I adore Bruno but Aldous is an interesting choice! Otis is good choice too.

Otis. Don't like
Otto OK
Aldous don't like
Bruno. Awul a pets name
Hugo nice
Jonah. Not sure

Just4thisthreadtoday · 13/09/2024 22:03

I'm sorry to hear about your Oscar 💔

to me Otis is a lift! My friend named her dog Otis, so that's taken over from the lift a bit, but now it's a dog🤣

I think it's safe to say we definitely have different tastes in names!

I think these go with Wilbur & possible future Edith-Edie

Edgar

GHxx · 13/09/2024 22:12

Edith is lovely and not one of the vintage names that are being used loads right now, which I love 😊

Some boy names that have taken me aback recently (because I like them):

Arley
Ari
Albie
Niven

I love Otis too

AliceMcK · 13/09/2024 22:14

Otis is lovely and would flow really well.

For me & DH are choices were all family or culturally traditional names.

Similar to your choices Alphonso/Alfonso
Albert (Bert) is also nice, I have a friend who has a little boy called Bertie, short for Albert.

I also like someone’s suggestion of Vincent.

SkaneTos · 13/09/2024 23:13

Otis and Otto are great names.

shoopshoopdedoo · 14/09/2024 01:03

I really like Wilbur, Oscar and Edie.

Not such a big fan of your current boy name options. I think Bruno and Hugo are the best options. I don’t like Otis, personally. I think of it as a 2020s trendy name, so has a different feel to me than your other more vintage choices. like the previous suggestion of Ernest. Also maybe Alfred (Fred), Harold, Gilbert (Bert) would work.

@Here4theaibu At the moment we both like

Otis
Otto
Aldous

Bruno

We're leaning towards Otis at the moment but any other suggestions please??!!

Out of the six, I'd vote for Otis.
Otto sounds like generic 19th century German.
Aldous. Can you imagine shouting, hey, Aldous, did you remember to put the rubbish out?
Bruno, says the animal Bear or basically the colour brown.
Hugo screams Tory MP, e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Swire
Jonah, - and the whale, but why? Wholesome vegan person name.
