Rosie or Thea?… Or something else?!

I have felt spoilt for choice with all the beautiful girls names out there, but having looked at what feels like every list or thread going over recent months, I’ve now got name fatigue at the final hurdle (DD2 due in 2 weeks).

I THINK I’ve narrowed it down to the 4 below. I’d like to narrow it down to a final 2, then we’ll decide between those 2 after she’s born.

Theodora (nn. Thea) Pearl
Thea Rosehip
Primrose (nn. Rosie) Pearl
Rosanna (nn. Rosie) Pearl

Middle names shown above. I also liked Joy. Rosehip is DH’s suggestion!
Surname begins with S.
DD1 is Persephone but 90% of the time goes by the diminutive Penny. (Yes we know that’s not the obvious diminutive but we love it, and if she chooses another when she’s older we’re totally fine with that. We’ll take the same approach with DD2.)

The name fatigue / brain fog is real, so any kind thoughts would be so welcome. I’m sort of open to other suggestions but fear that might leave me even more confused.

I like Thea Rosehip the best.
What about Rosabel Thea, Rosalie Thea, Theodora Rose?

I’d got so wedded to Pearl as a middle name, but only in the last 2 months or so, so it’s good to have the perspective of others.

I love nature names but I don’t think she will thank you for Rosehip.

How about Rosamund? Rosella? Rozina? Rosemary?

I’m really not a fan of Rosehip as a name. Rose, Rosalie, Rosanna, Rosa, Rosie all nice but rose hips aren’t the most attractive of things compared to the flowers. I don’t really like Primrose either as it’d potentially be shortened to Prim which just makes me think of ‘prim and proper’.

I love Theodora Pearl. I had Pearl on my list for DD.

Theodora Pearl nn Thea is lovely and goes so well with Persephone nn Penny.

I also like Thea Pearl or Rosanna Pearl too. Not keen on Rosehip or Primrose sorry!

I’ve got doubts about Rosehip too but I said an outright no to so many of DH’s suggestions, and I thought it would be okay for a middle name.

Rosanna is really lovely

Theodora/Thea is nice but there are SO many Theos and Theas.
Primrose is very wet (to me), and also there are loads of Rosies - if you call her Rosanna she can always choose her full name later if she wants.

(Maybe tell your DH he can have Rosehip as a cute nn just for him (!) - it's just a bit weird even as a middle name - maybe cos the word hip is in it, and I associate it with herbal treatments for arthritis and whatnot)

I agree with @Marcipex, @Pomegranatemum - Rosehip doesn't sit well, for me. I think that Thea Rose flows beautifully.

Theodora Pearl!

Really unsure about Rosehip, but also Rose is practically every girl’s middle name at the minute, it’s been done to death. So Pearl would make a nice change. I don’t like Primrose at all.

Theodora Pearl would be my choice! Both lovely but not overused, and go together well.

I would go for Theodora Pearl, as I think Theodora is a better fit with Persephone (and Thea with Penny), and then second choice would be Rosanna Joy - Rosie Pearl sounds like a cartoon character to me! But I do love Rosanna.

Not a fan of Roseanna (frilly) or Primrose, although I love primroses themselves in spring. I'm trying to give Rosehip a fair hearing and want to like it, it just doesn't sound right to me.

I think Rosehip is a little "out there" Rose or Rosemary would be better - but I think as a middle name for Theodora all have too many Rs

Adore stunning, elegant Persephone btw. I do like most of your options (apart from Primrose and Rosehip, both of which I find a bit twee sounding) - but I’d be really tempted by similar Theia instead (usually pronounced Thay-ah).

Thea is derived from Theia - but with Theia you’d have two less commonplace Greek Goddess names (as Thea is fairly popular at the moment compared to her sisters name). Thalia after the Muse might also be another elegant option?

If not, of your list I prefer Rosanna over Theodora as I find the Dora part a bit drudgey.

I love Rosie, less keen on Rosanna, but I think Theodora / Thea is lovely and works well with Persephone / Penny.

I don’t like the name Pearl, personally, unless it’s to honour someone. Rosehip is a fun talking point so I prefer it to Pearl on that basis! But Joy is lovely IMO.
