Middle name ideas for Elinor, please!

Your comments have been incredibly helpful! I finally found a name that feels right: Elinor 'Elle' Campbell. I love the nickname options for Elinor including Elle, Ella, Ellie, & Leni. I love the Sense and Sensibility spelling of Elinor Dashwood. Ava Elizabeth is still a beautiful front runner, but my main reservation with Ava is the current popularity in the US. Elinor has a vintage classic charm and playful nickname options, which may give it a leg up for me.

Can you please help me with a middle name? Is there guidance on how to pick a middle that flows well? Some ideas:

Elinor Claire Campbell
Elinor Rose Campbell
Elinor Vivienne Campbell
Elinor Grace Campbell
Elinor Maxine Campbell
Elinor Florence Campbell

Grace was my first thought even before I'd seen ur choices. Love Jane Austen.

heldinadream · 07/09/2024 19:20

They're all good, but I especially love Elinor Vivienne and Elinor Florence.

CuteCillian · 07/09/2024 19:21

I understand Elinor to be the Welsh version of Eleanor so maybe Olwen or Modrun.

waltzingparrot · 07/09/2024 19:21

I thought Elinor Grace went really well together before I read your suggestions.

thrifty24 · 07/09/2024 19:31

Elinor Vivienne or Grace or Florence. Think Rose and Claire is a bit over used as a middle name

BobbyBiscuits · 07/09/2024 19:33

Azelie
Emerald
Avery

I've got a weird thing about syllables so with a 3 syllable first name and 2 syllable surname, I'd go with a single syllable middle name (or max 2 syllables if there's a name you really love).

Elinor Grace sounds beautiful also Elinor Rose.

Other suggestions: Elinor Jane (a tribute to Jane Austin herself!), Elinor May, Elinor Jean, Elinor Blythe, Elinor Sage, Elinor Beth

Elinor Fflur
Elinor Gwawr
Elinor Ffion
Elinor Megan
Elinor Siân

All are gorgeous - my favourite of those ideas is Elinor Claire - the one syllable works so well and it’s less commonly used than Rose and Grace.

Ideas

Elinor Kate
Elinor Jade
Elinor Maeve
Elinor Faye
Elinor Fern
Elinor June
Elinor May

Felicity?

heinzseight · 08/09/2024 06:48

Don't go either Grace or Rose, they are done to death as middle names.

I really like Joy as a middle name, didn't use it myself and I don't know why.

Seventimesaday · 08/09/2024 07:09

My first thought was Jade. My second was Joy.
I see that these two have already been suggested.
Rose, Grace are popular at the moment.

theduchessofspork · 08/09/2024 10:50

I like Vivienne best - Elinor Vivienne Campbell is a woman to be reckoned with

Claire is nice too, but less zippy

Florence is nice but a wee bit twee, I like Flora better - and it's a nice Scottish combination with Campbell

Maxine is a bit low rent so I'd scrap that.

I'd also scrap Grace, Rose and May from a UK perspective - because they are massively overused as filler middlenames

Other ideas

Elinor Juliet
Elinor Madelaine
Elinor Catriona (if you want a Scottish nod)
Elinor Susannah
Elinor Lois
Elinor Frances
Elinor Constance
Elinor Lucienne
Elinor Christabel

But honestly - I'd go with Elinor Vivienne - it works really well

Elinor Jane
Elinor Joy
Elinor Anna
Elinor Bloom

Freshflower · 08/09/2024 11:27

Before I even read the whole post I thought of Grace and you have it as an option. Sounds really beautiful

GlassRat · 08/09/2024 11:29

Elinor Marianne! I love that book ❤️

pinkyredrose · 08/09/2024 11:30

Elinor Florence is lovely

sel2223 · 08/09/2024 12:11

Grace and Rose are incredibly popular middle names in the UK but don't know if it's the same in the US.

They are both on your list though so it obviously doesn't bother you either way and both sound lovely with Elinor - there's a reason for their popularity! They go so well with most names.

LissieC · 08/09/2024 14:02

Love Elinor Juliet too, thanks!
