I really like this name, also like Jasmine. Looking for a middle name for Seren, kind of want something a bit out there thinking that it can be dropped if not liked. Last name Greg so also wondering if it just sounds a bit of a hard / harsh non girly name?

I like Seren Jasmine.

theduchessofspork · 07/09/2024 01:38

I like both names but they are a bit matchy matchy together I think. Maybe save Jasmine for her sister.

Any other examples of names you like without the n ending?

ImpunityJane · 07/09/2024 02:11

I feel like a longer middle name works well, ideally not starting with a vowel, so that the final n of Seren doesn't bleed into the middle name. I think Seren Francesca sounds nice for example.

Seren is quite a harsh name. I don’t like Seren Greg at all! Too many Reh reh sounds.

Jasmine Greg is SO much better, more balanced and flows better.

So if you love Seren I’d use that as the middle name.

GogLais · 07/09/2024 13:39

I don't like Seren either. It's ok in a Valleys accent but the Serrun pronunciation sounds harsh. It also seems faddy.
Jasmine is much nicer and better with the surname.

I would use a Welsh middle name as I find it flows better with a Welsh first name. But having said that I do know a few people who have mixed and matched a Welsh with a non-Welsh middle name in honour of an English/French family member depending on their background, so it's personal choice.

oObyeOo · 07/09/2024 19:49

What about another Welsh name? Like Seren Lois, Seren Mably, Seren Nia.

GogLais · 07/09/2024 20:45

@oObyeOo , Lois isn't Welsh, it's from the Bible and is used in many languages, and Mably is Mabli. Seren Nia runs into one another.

Seren Grug?

My bad… I moved from Wales about 15yrs ago.

Lois sound nice when you say it in Welsh though

barnstone · 08/09/2024 10:26

I like Seren but the combination with your surname sounds a bit harsh. What about Serena? That sounds softer with Greg to me.

GogLais · 08/09/2024 13:13

@oObyeOo , I prefer it to the Lo-is pronunciation. Seems more assertive.

@barnstone ,Serena is nicer IMO. I'm not keen on noun names.
