Changing babies name - admin and passport

I've decided to double barrel my daughters surname as it's currently only my husbands surname. I thought I'd change mine to his but I just don't want to and have felt sad mine is lost. It sounds really good together so no issues there. He's also happy for us to do it (just wishes I'd decided this when she was born).

I'm feeling nervous about the admin as she already has a passport, I can amend the birth certificate in Scotland but it will show the old name. Has anyone done this? Can it cause major issues at all down the line for her? I've never really seen my birth certificate and imagine once she has the updated passport it'll be that used for the foreseeable and one day I'll explain the surname change on her bc which will be a nice story of women's rights to tell her some day! But having a wobble / anxiety about the admin now and potentially in later life.

Also keep getting random pangs of guilt that I'm not able to just leave hers change mine and be done with it... but I've tried and don't think I'll ever settle with that decision.

It won’t cause major issues, plenty of people change their surname both in childhood and adulthood and it’s absolutely fine.

Well done, I think you’re making exactly the right decision!
