Not many people like the name I chose

I'm 37 weeks and a little less than a month ago I changed my baby's name after seeing a color sonogram of her face. I love her new name and I'm not too affected by people's opinions. It's not a weird name, and has a lot of sentimental value to me.

When I tell people her name, the response is usually darty and avoidant of any opinion on the name. Whereas with the name I had originally chosen often got "Omg I love that name" and more along those lines. And obviously I loved that name too! I just feel like this name fits her better.

I almost kind of like it this way though. I sat here and tried to type out an explanation as to why, but I can't. It feels more authentic.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? It's just a weird experience.

People need to just be nice, who cares if people hate it, it's not their child or their business
My mum went ballistic about the name I chose for my first child, she was trying to get my family to 'back her' ... I really struggled to conceive and it was the best day of my life and my mum fucked up part of it, even called my DH at home and tried to bully him too ... we chose a marmite name, yea, but our choice. It's Tabitha. Tabby is now mid teens and loves it ... so ignore everyone as it's not their business

They've used what little enthusiasm they had when you announced your unborn baby's name. They're not wasting any more on the second and possibly subsequent ones.

I wouldn’t read too much into it. Who knows what they’re thinking?

Anyone could be judgemental about pretty much any name there is. You aren’t going to please everyone.

also I got asked so many times what my unborn baby’s name was… I think this is a normal conversation people have. I used to say I hadn’t decided yet and give one or two names.
