Looking for some suggestions for names for DD2.

DD1 is Stephanie (Stevie).

She’s almost exclusively called Stevie and corrects people that call her Stephanie.

I think names like Jennifer (Jenny)
Jacqueline (Jacqui)
Deborah (Debbie)

have a similar vibe and vintage to Stephanie

Edit: or go the whole hog and have another name that is a version of a boys name like Charlotte (Charlie/Lottie), although, for my taste Stevie and Charlie is a bit twee.

Francesca (Frankie)
Jessica (Jessie)

Don't know if I’m being too themed! I would think lots of names would work with Stephanie/Stevie. What other sort of names do you like?

HoHoHoliday · 24/08/2024 17:28

The young Stephanie I know has a sister called Tomasin, and they are Stevie and Tommie - both girly girls, both named after their grandads (Stephen and Thomas)!

Harriet (Harri)
Charlotte (Charlie)

I agree. I like Charlotte and my Grandfather was Charlie, but agree it’s a bit too much for them together 🙈

Partner really likes Josephine/Josie. We know a lovely one and I think that sways him haha.

I love Imogen but worry it’s maybe more popular than we want. Although I don’t think it’s super common at the minute

My little girl was very nearly Josephine/Josie so I'm biased but I think it suits all ages

Elizabeth (Ellie, Lizzie, Beth, Elsie, Libby...)

Marianne (Marnie)
Rebecca (Becky, Becca or Becs are the obvious nicknames but I used to know a Rebecca who went by Rebbie)
Antonella (Annie, Anna, Toni, Nell, Nellie)

Josephine - Josie / Jonie was my first thought too.

Philippa (Pippa) and Imogen (Genny) go really nicely, from your list. I love Alice, Erin and Nerys too - they don’t “go” quite as well but I don’t think that’s the most important consideration.

Apologies if these have already been suggested, but how about

Natalie
Caroline - Callie
Marceline - Marcie
Harriet - Hattie
Rosemary - Romy
Georgina - Ginny / Georgie
Helena - Nell

Stevie is super cool and Stephanie is an underused (now) classic.

It’s funny you mentioned it but I instantly thought of Josephine as similar- but with the cool nn Effie or Joni rather than cuter Josie. (Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell!)

My second idea for cool nn vibes was Kit/Kitty - as both Christine/a or Catherine would work for the longer version and have the same traditional 70’s/80’s style as Stephanie.

Maybe also Antonia with the nn Annie (Lennox) or Nina (Simone)? Sorry about the singer/songwriter thing 🤣
