Thoughts on name combinations

Love hearing people's opinions on different name combinations (without having to discuss with family and friends)
We are due a baby girl and like some of the below combinations (love the name Jasmine but don't like the nickname Jas so it would only be a middle name)

Amber Jasmine
Lily Jasmine
Amber Lily
Lily Amber
Lily Sienna
Amber Sienna

Popularity doesn't bother me, I don't want a name that people haven't heard of before

None of them flow or work well together.

If I had to choose I'd go for Amber Lily but that's the best of a bad bunch.

UltramarineViolet · 18/08/2024 21:41

Amber Lily or Amber Jasmine are nice

Lily Jasmine sounds a bit too flowery and Amber Sienna sounds like a paint colour

Comedycook · 18/08/2024 21:44

I like all the names but not sure whether any sound right together.

I like Sienna the best though.

I know it's not one of the options but I like Sienna Jasmine.

BoleynMemories13 · 18/08/2024 21:48

As above, some of your combinations are either too floral or too colour themed.

Lily Sienna, Lily Amber, Amber Jasmine or Amber Lily work the best. Sienna Jasmine or Sienna Lily would also work. I definitely wouldn't put two plants or two colours together though.

quickturtle · 18/08/2024 21:51

I wouldn't put a colour before a flower - you're not describing a plant. Two flowers/plants also sounds odd.

UsernamePain · 18/08/2024 21:55

I have an Amber Lily ♥️

BehindTheSequinsandStilettos · 18/08/2024 21:56

Lily Jasmine
or
Lily-Rose

JC03745 · 18/08/2024 21:57

I agree with others. I like all of your name choices, but they don't flow together and either sound like paint/crayon colours or too floral on floral.

The only alternative is a non-floral name in addition, but then she'd have 3 names such as Lily Anne Jasmine Surname or choose a different middle name. Any family names you like?

That's a good point. Hadn't thought of that Amber Lily sounds like a description of a flower.

Sienna sounds like laxatives - senna.

Love Jasmine. I know a Jasmine who goes by Minnie (she's 4) if that helps

Amber Jasmine - Amber is lovely and not a name I hear very often (I know one, 8 year old and that's it - I also only knew one growing up)

Lily Jasmine - two plant names would bother me, plus I find Lily a bit overdone

Amber Lily - prefer Amber Jasmine as Jasmine is more unexpected

Amber Sienna - the flow feels off

sel2223 · 19/08/2024 05:12

Someone suggested Sienna Jasmine and that's lovely!

My daughters middle name is Jasmine and first name is 3 syllables so has a similar sound/flow and we get lots of compliments

Firsttimebabymummy · 19/08/2024 06:52

I love Jasmine too! One of my all time favourite names and what I'd always had picked for a girl.

I've only known as one who went by Minnie, which I thought was cute, so definitely consider it as a first name if you really like it.

Not on your list, but I'd go Sienna Jasmine.

MissedItByThisMuch · 19/08/2024 06:57

I think people way overthink flow and compatibility with first and middle names. In reality they are not often said together and no one will be analysing the combination. Just pick what you like best.

user1492757084 · 19/08/2024 07:06

All combinations do little for me due to them each being two syllable and also Lily has never been a personal favourite.

Inspired from your list, I love ..
Sienna Jasmine

Others ..
Celia Jasmine
Amber Eloise
Sienna Beth

FayCarew · 19/08/2024 08:37

Amber Jasmine
Lily Jasmine
Amber Lily
Lily Amber
Lily Sienna
Amber Sienna

The combinations are all a bit twee.
Amber needs a name that is not a noun after it.
Two flower names seem a bit strange to me but there are probably hundreds of girls called Lily Rose.
I don't like Sienna at all.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/08/2024 08:42

I don't like these types of names, sorry!

But as other PPs have said the issue is with colours and flowers that you are either saying; Flower Flower, which is very twee; Colour Colour, which is very Dulux; or Colour Flower, which is very botanical.

Do you like any non-flower, non-colour names?

SossijRoll · 19/08/2024 14:59

Amber Lily is nice. Lily is quite saturated though as a first name, I’m bored of hearing it tbh.

Exactly. It reminds me of Cabbage Patch doll names where you’d have one frilly name and one short, down to earth name.
