Sibling for Daisy

Hi all,

would love some help. We’re expecting no.2 and would love some ideas for a sibling for Daisy. I love the name Daphne but I don’t know if it’s a bit twee together as siblings? Any other suggestions? I don’t want flower names.

Why don’t you want flower names. I’d worry down the line the one without a floral name will be annoyed she didn’t get one too.

Daphne is a flower name

@Nicebloomers op said in her post (I) “don’t want flower names.” Hence my query, it’s not my fault she doesn’t realise that the name she mentioned is a tree.

I wouldn't go for same initials. What about Nancy?

Firsttimebabymummy · 17/08/2024 21:53

I know of two Daisy's

One has sister Poppy and one Lottie.

I think both are nice.

Daisy and Daphne is fairly marmite, some people will think it’s cute, some people will think it’s utterly twee, same as two flower names.

I am in the twee camp myself so I’d think of something else - Zoe, Phoebe, Chloe, Robin, Rowan, Clara, Cora, Ida, Philippa nn Pippa

Or I suppose you could go for Dora, short for Theodora or Isadora, and then if she doesn’t like the twinny-ness she could opt for a different short form

Most people wouldn’t know that though

Because it can feel a bit twee, or maybe a bit Hyacinth Bucket? I don’t see why anyone would be annoyed not to get a flower name, there are plenty of nice names about.

I love all the suggestions, but Daphne is lovely and they sound nice together.
Lauren, or Brooke?

RedOnyx · 18/08/2024 07:43

The Daisy I know has a sister named Willow. Still a nature name but tree rather than flower.
Daphne does feel a bit too similar.

How about:
Elsie
Luna
Millie
Pippa

Moreteaandchocolate · 18/08/2024 08:07

How about a nature theme, but not a flower?

  • Ruby
  • Amber
  • Summer
  • Willow
  • Jade
  • Hazel
Viviennemary · 18/08/2024 09:06

Just give her a pretty girls name. Not a long name. Or an unusual one. There are plenty to choose from.

Sheeparelooseagain · 18/08/2024 11:45

Daisy was popular at the end of the 19th/ early 20th century so fits well with all the names from that era such as Ada, Evelyn, Florence, Eliza, William, Albert, George etc.
