I think I'm going to go uber poncy for unborn baby's middle name. What is the PONCIEST name you can think of?

Wow. Do you pronounce that 'Vladislav'?

What a cool name!

Threadworm · 17/04/2008 12:17

Pronounced Vwadiswav

ImflightbutIcantlogintoday · 17/04/2008 12:19

That's very lovely.

DS2's middle name is Francis, which I thought was a touch poncy, but was DH's mum AND grandads name.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 17/04/2008 12:22

My brothers middle name is Raphael which is a bit poncy but also rather nice

Threadworm · 17/04/2008 12:23

Thanks flight

Actually it was his grandfather's name (grandfather who died before he was born).

His grandfather's family always used to Anglicise it to Walter in the name of cultural integration

Washersaurus · 17/04/2008 12:26

I always thought Ralph (Raif) was on the poncey side too

How about Freud? Ooooh or Clement or Sigmund? (see my train of thought there)

PrimulaVeris · 17/04/2008 12:29

Aloysius (? spelling?)

The name of the poncey teddy bear of the poncey Anthony Andrews character in Brideshead Revisited

Oh that is sad and nice at the same time...my German grandfather was Joachim, he married my grandmother when the war ended, he was a POW in Leicestershire.
Everyone called him John

MamaG · 17/04/2008 12:47

ooh I meant to tell you LL, at work we all had to name our printers so it would be easy to work out which one had a prob on the network. Boss said male names as teh PCs have female names (mine is Dolly, cheeky fecks, in honour of my big norks apparently). I called my printer Orlando and stuck a pic of Orlando on it NEKKID

CountessDracula - my grandad was called Cornelius (Neily). He was Irish by birth and ended up down the coalmines in Merthyr Tydfil.

He would have been thrilled to bits that his name is now considered up there with the ponciest of the posh
