We like the name Florence but struggling for a middle name-
Florence Emilia
Florence Valentina

Which is nicest?
I don't know if the Florence Valentina sounds too Italian and we aren't Italian 😅

Any other suggestions throw my way

Florence Emilia sounds far better!

MistyF · 14/08/2024 10:52

Florence isnt name of city in Italian, but both name strike me Roman-esque. Also Shakespearian.
Florence Matilda
Florence Phoebe
Florence Gwen
Florence Cecily
Florence Alice
Florence Helena
Florence Juliet

@Elisabeth3468 Emilia is Italian. See attached. You could try Amelia!

Which one?
NuffSaidSam · 14/08/2024 10:57

Both Florence and Emilia are extremely popular names (possibly a tad overused even) so I'd go for Valentina as it's a bit different.

Surname initial?

I've always loved the name Valentina, and I think Emilia is a bit overdone at the moment. Florence Valentina is lovely.

Firsttimebabymummy · 14/08/2024 11:34

I prefer Florence Valentina

I agree with this. I always like the idea of middles being an alternative if their child ends up hating their first - so having them feel a bit different to the first.

Florence and Emilia/Amelia are both very popular/of the moment, so it makes sense to me to have something a bit leas popular in the middle.

I don't mind over used really. I just like classic names. My son is called Henry x

Florence Emilia, unless the initials make a word. Valentina seems too long and fancy.

RuthW · 14/08/2024 12:18

Florence Valentina is lovely.

Theoldwoman · 14/08/2024 12:25

Florence Emilia.

I honestly would go for something less fancy/frilly because Florence is frilly to me.

Florence Kate
Florence Ann
Florence Joy
Florence Clare
Florence Louisa
Florence Ivy
Florence Ellen

@Elisabeth3468 Emilia is hardly classic. It’s an area of Italy and was rarely used as a name 20 years ago. Valentina is lovely. What about Violet or Victoria? Valentina whilst seen as having a Roman origin is also used in other cultures including Russian. The first woman in space was Valentina Tereshkova.

Didn't even think of this! The initials would make the word "FEW" 😅

I like both but how long is your surname?
I think Florence Valentina sounds lovely but I'd too look at the initials your child would have.

KirstenBlest · 14/08/2024 13:40

@Elisabeth3468 , I though it might be Carter-King.

There were some SODs at school with me.

It's a very long surname beginning with W. Polish surname as my partners grandad was polish so name has carried through .

Neither. Just Florence. It doesn't need a middle name!

itsme189 · 14/08/2024 15:52

I prefer Florence Emillia but both are nice!

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/08/2024 17:02

I like Florence Emilia, but as it makes her initials FEW, here are some ideas

Florence Sophia
Florence Lucy
Florence Ruby
Florence Phoebe
Florence Mabel
Florence Chloe
Florence Clara
Florence Ivy
Florence Kate
Florence Claire
Florence Maeve
Florence Layla
Florence Matilda
Florence Isabel
